Captain Tilly Park reviews
16Nice park.very relaxing in daytime.water in the pond is rotten but it’s ok.but after the dark this place gets, well. “romantic”. Law enforcement needs to keep an eye on.
Neighborhood (like others in NYC). Homeless Residents sleeping consistently. Jamaica HS is adjacent to park but students aren't much of a problem like years ago. Police Presence is sporadic but are visible. It's kept fairly clean by Park Workers. It's a Neighborhood Park at its best.
We love to be in the playground with my daughter's and to bring our beautiful bunny to run in the grass and eat like is not tomorrow. The neighbors are super friendly and families love to be here sitting with their kids running around making New friends. Good to enjoy a beautiful afternoon just dont forget you? Mosquito repellent.
Nice park. Clean and enough space for s family gathering. The children's playground is small, better suited for toddlers. No basketball ground. Water is sometimes clean, good environment and surroundings.
This park used to be very nice and quiet but lately it's been overcrowded and dirty. We used to see a couple of big turtle residents at the pond but not anymore.
THE POND IS NOT PROTECTED!
In the wintertime the pond froze over and there were children trying to walk over this frozen pond with no parental supervision from neighboring middle schools, and the park's solution is a random ladder just sitting on the side in case of emergencies
This should not be how this is secured in 2022 when there is WiFi in NYC parks. Very dirty park as well, because it is so conveniently located and used by a lot of the schools nearby
Staff does not take care of this park given the volume of community members engaging in it.
Could use A LOT more updates starting with securing the pond and children's accessibility especially in an area where most children and young adults are not supervised
Nice place and super quiet. Pond and birds are so beautiful. Amazing landscape. But bathrooms are an issue. Still, a pretty park to go to. Lastly, the little park is good for kids.
It's a very natural touch of beauty park. Always good if you have someone with you. Trees, waterbodies, birds, turtles, ducks are awesome. You must visit there at least once. There is also a place for children, if you have kids/children they can enjoy the playground.
ICYMI Captain Tilley Park is colloquially known as Goose Pond Park. Goose Pond is a man-made pond on the former Tilley farm. I have seen quite a variety of herons and egrets visit the pond (mostly in the warmer seasons), which is home to carp, American Painted turtles, and, unfortunately, quite a bit of green algae. The park also has a good variety of hardwood trees from 85th Avenue and Gothic Drive on the north end and Highland Avenue on the south end. Come enjoy the crest of the glacial moraine in central Queens! Solid, little city park.
It's a small park but the views of the pond are beautiful. I love to exercise here or just go to relax. Update 2022, there's a lot of benches to sit on that were not there before
Little neighborhood park with amazing landscaping. A little pond with beautiful wild goose and ducks. Lots of birds & busy squirrels everywhere. Cozy kids playground and ample bench seats around the pond. Its become crowded sometimes but u will find ur space there anyway. & the view of majestic building of Jamaica high cant be missed.
Spent a lovely hour here yesterday walking in the open air and sunshine. There are numerous benches for relaxation. There is also a playground for children.
So nice. Except some people were a little rude while I was trying to find a secluded spot to train my service animal in and people kept interrupting. Dog is clearly marked to not disturb. Other than that it is a beautiful park with a very quaint looking duck pond. Lots of benches around and it does have a men and women's room. It also has poop bags for your dogs near the entrance.
I was walking with my sister around 11 am this morning (feb 26 2022), the person that was cleaning the park cursing towards us without any reason. Since he had a cleaning stick on his hand I felt scared with my sister along my side. Felt danger form official people being racist against ppl enjoying the park. I would seek attention to park official.
Beautiful park!? There is a playground and has lots of walking room. It's nyc so their is lots of ppl! The benches are already 6 ft apart so it's already covid precautions ready!
