CaraCara Mexican Grill reviews
16Below Average food standard with high price. Went with 4.3 review and it turned out to be a disappointing experience. One star for the fresh Avocados. Not recommending this place
Walked into restaurant at 9: 50pm on a Saturday night (12-17-22) with my wife to get a drink after eating somewhere else. Bartender said the bar was closed… meanwhile there were several people at the bar and the restaurant area was full…. What kind of nonsense is that? Can I give it zero stars? Even is they close at 10pm they still could have offered us one drink…. Been there several times in the past but will not go back…. Ridiculous
Customer service was great. Came in with no reservation, we were seated even when the place was PACKEDD, our waiter was nice but there was minimum interaction. The food was not my favorite. The mash potatoes was sweet. I had to add salt and pepper to my steak to eat it, the rice had to be eaten with the beans on it, didn't like it by itself at all, the calamari I found to be unsalted but I realized later it's meant to be eaten with the fried sausage bits that are salty. The drinks were great and pretty.
Food is lack luster, and there were fruit flies all over the walls and flying around the food. (In December).
Our waiter was great, I think the issue is just the management.
Favorite go to spot in Farmingdale! Table side guac, tamales and main courses are amazing! Friendly fun atmosphere.
Extensive tequila menu, foods average but pricey. Our service was excellent. The atmosphere is great, good place for a large gathering. Fresh delicious guacamole made right in front of you.
I totally messed up our reservation but the manager and our waiter were amazing! Totally accommodated! Thank you so much for diverting a disaster! Not to mention the food and drinks never disappoint.
Great dining experience. Tortilla soup appetizer is a must! Chicken tacos, shrimp tacos and especially the chicken relleno with tequila mushroom sauce all excellent. Table-side guacamole just delicious. Frozen mango margaritas were perfect!
One annoying drunk lady that wanted to make a scene took away a star. Could hear here mouth across the whole restaurant.
The food was okay, service was excellent. We really enjoy the fresh made in front of you guacamole. Bit pricey family of four plus 1 drink 2 adults over 200.
Was a little disappointed in my choice of entree. Not what I was expecting. My quest is still ongoing.chicken suizas
I very much enjoyed my michelada and empanadas. The avocado dip was also very good but the salsa was a little thin. The staff was helpful when answering questions and offered suggestions on side dishes.
Went in for an early dinner with another couple. It was my best Buddy's birthday. Nick was the bartender and our server as well. He was excellent. Provided a great time experience for us
We have eaten here twice. Both times had different items and the food and drink both delicious each time. We have not had to wait but we usually make a reservation. The menu has a nice difference from a typical Mexican selection
Booked a reservation for a Friday night for a group of seven. They required a credit card for the reservation and promised a $50 charge if I didn't show. This is a bit of a turn off and frankly would have kept me from making the reservation if it wasn't the same day. I understand the rationale, but this is not customer friendly. We ordered the peach sangria and enjoyed the free chips and salsa. The chips were fine. The sangria was not mixed and we didn't know so the first few glasses were not great. It also didn't have much fruit - just a few pieces in each glass. A few others ordered margaritas and really enjoyed them. We ordered the table side guacamole, which was quite good. We also got the queso fundido, which I'd recommend. I was generally disappointed with our waiter who seemed unengaged, but while ordering entrees, the waiter flagged a dish that contained mole and offered a taste of the sauce noting it can be an acquired taste. This was a nice touch, and saved my mom from a ordering a dish she wouldn't enjoy. The food arrived quickly and everyone liked it but was underwhelmed. My dish was flavorful but not hot. Someone else's steak was very much overcooked. The biggest disappointment was the Mexican hot chocolate I ordered to close out the meal. It was warm milk with Hershey's syrup and a little cinnamon. Not bad for what it was, but a far cry from what I expected from a self-proclaimed "authentic, upscale" restaurant. My family agreed we were glad we tried the restaurant but won't be returning.
