Carl Schurz Park reviews
14Carl Schurz Park is a 14.9-acre (6.0 ha) public park in the Yorkville neighborhood of Manhattan, New York City, named for German-born Secretary of the Interior Carl Schurz in 1910, at the edge of what was then the solidly German-American community of Yorkville. The park contains Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the Mayor of New York.
My favorite part of living on the UES! If you can enjoy your walk without being mowed down by teens on all manner of 2 wheeled scooters zipping past you, dangerously close in fact (I was grazed by one that must've been doing 30mph) it's a beautiful spot to enjoy a leisurely (with head on a swivel) stroll along the East River.
This is such a calm place to just sit and relax! I loved it I sat there for hours just watching the water and talking to my friend. I saw a lot of people walking their dogs and sitting with their babies.
Lovely park overlooking the East River. The park includes Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the mayor of New York City. Today's look of the park stems from the 1930s, when the park was redesigned under Robert Moses (1888-1981) in connection with the construction of FDR Drive. From the promenade there are fabulous views of the East River, Astoria, Roosevelt Island, and Triboro Bridge.
Two dog parks (1 for dogs 25 pounds and less and 1 for dogs of all sizes), pickle ball, basketball, playgrounds, and plenty of benches.
Pickleball Courts—So many bad experiences here with people…they forget that it’s just a game. It’s named PICKLEball for crying out loud!
Nice and clean park. Great for lazy walks by the riverside. There is small dogs park and bug dogs park, pickle ball courts and entrance to the Ferry service.
Awesome view of the tri-borough and 59th st bridge. It was hot and humid that day so it was quite packed. Great place on the east side to view the landscape and water!
Nice park to relax with great views of the east river facing astoria queens, roosevelt Island and randalls Island.
Relaxing place to bring your dog or just chill by the river at sunrise or sunset.any time of day really. Often cooler than the inner city.
. It is a public park.spacious, very green and with areas for dogs.to run.they have picnics.lots of benches to read or watch the river.this is in the Yorkville area
This is one of my favorite places but the rats have been taking over the park lately. During the day, you can even find multiple rodents running through the playground while kids are playing. My 7yr old is afraid of rats and refused to continue playing after seeing a few of them We had to leave. In the evening, they're running along the boardwalk, scaling the railing, running under benches while people are sitting there More needs to be done about the overflow of garbage that's left overnight. More garbage than there are bins. I hope it gets better
The best park around this neighborhood.
-Big nad small dog park.
-Plenty of open lawns maintained by neighborhood volunteers for picnics.
-basketball court
-east river views
-beautiful small gardens
-plenty of seating
-restrooms
-well paved paths for bikes and scooters
-kids playground
It's everything you need.
Beautiful at night, just be aware of your surroundings. People are fairly spread out & the area has numerous blind spots.
