Carroll Heating & Cooling, Rochester NY

Our furnace wasn't working so we called John Carroll to check it out. He arrived right when he said he would, checked the furnace error codes which just said ignition failure and didn't really give him anything to go on. He poked around for a few minutes, and based on what it was doing when it tried to fire up he said it was probably the gas valve. He went to the parts supplier and was back in under a half hour with the part, installed it, and the furnace fired up and runs beautifully. That's how experienced John is—he went with his gut and got it right the first time even though the furnace codes etc.didn't indicate any clear problem. To make matters even better, he informed me that the part was under warranty. John installed the furnace several years ago—I had no clue it was still under warranty. He could have easily charged me for the part—that's how honest this guy is and I don't take that for granted with contractors. This is the first issue we've had with the furnace since John recommended and installed it and our central air several years ago. When he recommends a furnace and/or central air, he knows what he's doing and stands behind the product and his workmanship. The final bill was very reasonable—with John Carroll you're not paying for a fleet of trucks and a fancy office building with secretaries etc. -not to mention you have the owner working on your heating or air conditioning and not a hired hand who doesn't have nearly the experience. My furnace stopped working and there didn’t seem to be anything mechanically wrong with it, so I gave John a call after some recommendations. He came over same day and took at look at it - took him less than 20 minutes to trace out a wire short off the PCB. He got me up and running in no time flat. I’ll definitely give him a call in the future for further maintenance needs.

John installed a new furnace in our home. The entire experience working with John and his team was fantastic.   He was extremely responsive, very knowledgeable, took the time to discuss what options we had, and did high quality and professional work.   In addition, the price was very
reasonable, and the installation timing was faster compared to other contractors.   We will be reaching out to John for all future HVAC needs.

John did a great job installing a new furnace for me and he also ran all new duct work in the basement. He got the work done quick and everything looks very tidy and professional. Very reasonably priced. He'll be my first call for future HVAC needs!

We highly recommend carroll heating and cooling! Our furnace was 47 yrs.old.we had 3 estimates, he was lowest price but that's not why we chose him.john (the owner) came over for the estimate and he seemed the most knowledgeable and we liked the fact that he actually does the installation himself.he did a great job and we are very pleased.we will recomenend him.his assistant cody was exceptional.

I found John's name and contact information on the Irondequoit group on Facebook after several people had recommended him for HVAC services. After my furnace ignitor began to malfunction, I called him up and he was able to come over to look at the problem on the same day, and summarized my options to remedy the problem including parts, materials, labor costs, etc. As my boiler system is over 30 years old at this point, I opted to go with a brand new one. Knowing that my boiler may be nearing the end of its lifespan (and in the middle of winter) John scheduled himself for the work within a week's time. He was in my home all day and installed my new boiler along with the accompanying new piping, parts and fittings, including expansion tank, shut off valves, flu vents, etc. He was very professional, thorough, courteous, and cleaned up my basement and left it the way I found it. I would highly, highly recommend him to others.

I would like to add something to this post since I last wrote it. A week ago Sunday, 2/5/23, one of my pipes burst in my porch/Florida room, spewing water all over the floor. I called John, who came over to my house on a Sunday (and within 15 minutes of my call), spent an hour or a little more at my home and fixed the problem. We are so lucky to have someone like this who lives in our community in Irondequoit!

Exceptional service! I am very thankful to John. Our heat stopped working and he responded to my call right away. This is not the first time he has serviced/repaired our HVAC system. He has always provided high-quality honest work. John is very professional, responsible and kind. I would highly recommend him to anyone!
