Center Moriches Free Public Library

Excellent service on front end and adult section of library. However, today I had a not so pleasant experience with a woman in the children’s section when I asked for my son’s library card number as I had forgotten the card in the car and he wanted to use the computer. She then loudly and aggressively verbalized that he could use a guest pass. Which is fine but in the past if i’ve forgotten a card, as a patron of the library I supplied my id and was provided my information in return. I was told that it was a violation of privacy to ask for such a thing and made to feel as though I was doing something illegal. She was also not very friendly to us at all. I could be wrong but what i discerned from her energy was that she did not want us there.

The Center Moriches Library has become my favorite place in town to visit! All of the Staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly, the selection of movies, books, and music is diverse and expansive; and the addition of the Hampton Cafe is the cherry on top of this fantastic place! Can't recommend this place enough.

Library close today without any previous updates for us.even in the website says is open but. I walk to get something print out and is close just close for not reason.

I was working with my Granddaughter doing her alphabet and was told to leave the children's section as this area gets busy.

Important centerpiece of Center Moriches. Anything I need they have or are willing to borrow it from another branch.
My children grew up there and I look forward to bringing my grandchildren to their many programs.
Hampton Coffee just adds that much more.

I stopped by the Center Moriches Public Library while visiting the area in late October. Having worked in a library in the past I like to visit different libraries during my travels. I was very impressed with the library especially with the children’s area. They have a great selection of books and programs for the children and the staff was very polite.

Very nice library. We go all the time on weekends. The staff is very pleasant and helpful. The Hampton Coffee cafe attached is also a very nice convenience.

Wonderful library! The staff are extremely friendly and helpful, which is really important because I use a walker and can’t reach high or low, and if I want an item that’s not available at the library they will request it and notify me when it comes to the library. Couldn’t ask for more!

I love this library and specifically for the teens section, and if your wondering, yes they DO have manga, like two walls filled with it. Only downside is you can’t obtain the library card there, you have to go to MASTIC RECREATION COMMUNITY CENTER which is 10 minutes away driving from the library to get the library card which is an inconvenience. The place has multiple activities and there’s a cafe right next to it/ in the building so it’s great for teens and adults alike, there’s a children’s center with games and activities all the time so it’s good for all ages. Additionally the area (montauk highway) has many restaurants and shops! Overall a good place, but they need to get more manga

Lovely staff, many things to do and get from here, including a seed library, cake pans, amd much more!

It's a beautiful building with many amenities. I appreciate the unlocked rest rooms and attached coffee shop.

Most of the people working there are very nice and good people! I would recommend this library for basic things (research, school readings, waste time etc). O haven’t been to this library since high school back in 2012 but what brings me back is a project which I will explain below. My problem is with how they communicate within themselves. If you get permission from the higher ups of the library, and they show the people at the front desk, how to do it in their system you cannot take out slightly more then their limits on items. I went in to do a project on renting out CDs from them. Their limit was 10 but now is 15 apparently but I received permission from Bob who is a very nice person who I was told was the second or third in command at this library. When I asked him he said it was fine for me to take out multiple items, and has told everyone there two-three times I can take out about 30ish CDs at a time. This to me was reasonable because I do not want to waste time and gas having to go back and forth from the library and they don’t have to rent out a ton to one person I get it! However, today was like the fifth or sixth time in 5-6 ish weeks they told me I can’t take out more then 15. If I didn’t already get permission and told it was alright and have them do it for me multiple times I wouldn’t be writing this. I am not mad at the people but I wish they would communicate better within themselves and to be frank I doubt I will be back to this library when I have the option to be a library member at the Riverhead or Mastic. I apologize for the rant and have a wonderful day!

Staff is great, especially the librarian working in the teen section. She was so nice and helpful

One of the noisiest libraries I've ever been to. If you're looking for peace so you can study or get work done you won't find it here. Lots of loud conversations from staff and patrons, and people munching on chips, reading out loud, talking on phones, all add up to a distracting cacophony.

And you never know if the place will be incredibly over heated or absolutely freezing. If you must go here for any length of time, wear layers.
The one good thing is the thrift store bookshelf, which is nice.

This is the only library I have seen have a thrift store shelf of books 4/$1 DVDs $1each absolutely fantastic!
