Central Park Zoo reviews
15A nice location to see a great selection of animals (albeit the Red Panda's had disappeared when we went), and a good break from the hustle and bustle just a few minutes away!
This zoo is worth visiting if you are in the Big Apple.we traveled from New Jersey to Port Authority, from there we took the subway to 5th Avenue and walked 4 minutes to the entrance of the zoo, there you find a large cafeteria where there is from beers to food, how many with bathrooms everywhere, the signage is quite clear, we loved that all the animals were visible and very beautiful, the experience at the children's Zoo is interactive, you can buy food from the farm animals and give them, in the 4D theater it is great for both children and adults, what we liked the most was where the bears were, you can see them in all their splendor, I recommend buying the tickets online (19.95 USD adult) you can last everything you want in the place, so take the opportunity to take some good photos and have a good time with this wonderful landscape.
Cool little small zoo, i like it to chill abit see some animals, have fun, and for all of us, remember the Madagascar zoo
Beautiful, penguins were waving nicely, but the lemurs were a bit weird especially the one with the crown.
This was far above my expectations. The layout is rightfully manicured and when we were there, so if the animals were active and easy to see.
Lovely space within the humongous city of New York. If I lived in NY, I would visit often.
The bird house is like a separate world from NY as soon as you step in. Make sure you see the animal statues dance around the clock at the north gate of the park.
Very weak, almost no animals, no indications, terrible for baby strollers or wheelchairs, very bad
We expect to see many things in this zoo. Unfortunately we feel that thus place is tourist trap. Very small zoo, so few things to see. Lost some time in NY with this sightseeing but its ok.
We went on a very hot day. Most of the animals were off exhibit which makes sense. I noticed that all the enclosures seemed small even with the animals not in them.
Then we got to the bear enclosure and there were 3 bears sitting out in the hot sun looking miserable. The enclosure was much too small for 3 bears. One bear started pacing back and forth while shaking his head, clearly agitated and distressed. The harbor seal also had a small enclosure with what seemed as more land than water in it. The sea lion pool was way too small for the number of sea lions that were in it. The pool didn't seem to be that deep at all. The sea lions had zero enrichment, they were just swimming in circles. I'm shocked that with these enclosures this zoo is AZA rated.
I get that this is an older zoo so they have less space to work with. But if you can't safely and happily care for the animals in those enlosures, do not have them. They deserve more than this zoo.
We had a nice time at Central Park Zoo, the indoor jungle area was great. The zoo was much smaller than we expected - it took us less than hour to see it all. Plan to combine it with more of Central Park for a full afternoon outing.
You would think that a zoo like this would pay more attention to its animals. Compared to German zoos, this is really sad, especially the grizzly bear and the penguins. The paths for visitors are larger than the enclosures. Sad.
Small, very well-kept zoo in the heart of Central Park. The tropical area is very beautiful. Highly recommended!
Excellent place, although it is small, clean, few people. If you buy tickets in the same place you pay less than online and if you use credit or debit cards you pay taxes, it is better to buy in cash.
Small zoo, various animals, the rain forest exhibit is fabulous. Seals are entertaining, as are the bears. Unfortunately, the snow leopard was hiding. Great place for kids and then there's the Children's Zoo. Had a very nice afternoon.
