Chinatown Supermarket of Manhattan reviews
14Chinese supermarket on two stories with a big selection of fresh meat and seafood, fruits an groceries. They have nearly everything.
Honestly speaking I don't like it down here. The food is bad it's mostly dirty on every street and no one understands English.
For staffing and created self state laws demanding costomer with disable to carry their service dog cause it's NYS law
Clean supermarket, friendly staff, and lots of Asian products at affordable prices. I always see them mopping and doing a deep clean when closing, and vegetables are super fresh. My go to supermarket in Chinatown:)
This location is not bet place the do not respect the products that they sell. The Have good packaged items. But the handling of the food that have is not some that you would want to buy, if you know how they were treating them.
Great spot. Not everything is quite as fresh as some of my other favorite Chinatown markets but it's local to me and therefore convenient.
Racist employee at the fish. Ignored me waiting for more than 10 minutes and decided to help chinese woman who just came. He definitely saw me.
Great place to shop for seaweed and black bean noodles. That's if you tried them before.
The seafood department was closed before the time was up. The service in the meat department was too bad. I thought you were the master, but we were. They are grapes from Peru. How can I say they are Kyoho grapes? It’s best to grab them. Whatever you do Said you are rotten, rotten,
They are the only ones in Manhattan Chinatown where I can find 菜籽油 caiziyou roasted rapeseed oil for Sichuan cooking. Only carry one or two kinds though, wish they would source a better cold-pressed organic brand. Still better than nothing. Also one of the only places I can find big packs (230g) of Yibin 碎米芽菜 suimiyacai. The 甜面酱 tianmianjiang they carry is not the Sichuan kind, it has soybean in it, more like other regions' sweet bean paste. So they don't have everything, but if you are looking for Sichuan ingredients I keep searching the other markets (rarely any luck at HK Supermarket or Po Wing Hong) and I have the best luck with this grocer. Also lots of rice, noodle options, I wish they had more pickled peppers. Not bad, and very busy meat/seafood section downstairs so I would trust them for freshness.
The price is not cheap, the environment is dirty, the supermarket staff are unfriendly, all the vegetables and seafood are taken away half an hour before closing, the management is very bad!
2.6.23 - I’ve been shopping here since they opened and it’s generally a well run place. The produce is in good shape, the meats are kept fresh, and almost every Asian pantry stable is available.
Great selection of fruits, veggies and Asian snacks! Love to grab the spicy Lao Gan Ma for hotpot season. There are some home goods that are affordable and high quality.
Friendly people, great selection of fresh products. Great prices (by NEW YORK standards). Highly recommend.
