Choly Filipino Restaurant reviews
20 Excellent food and service!
Was here on a Friday night. The Bartender recommended their Tamarind Margarta which was amazing.
Food here was good but kind of pricey. Servers/staff here are all very friendly and accommodating, especially on a slow night.
If you're looking for a delicious Filipino meal with great drinks, be sure to check out Choly!
We started with a few drinks, and we highly recommend the guyabano martini, passion fruit margarita, and mango margarita. They were all delicious and refreshing.
We only tried the apps - we ordered the lumpa shanghai and chicharon bulaklak. The lumpa shanghai were crispy and flavorful, and the chicharon bulaklak was perfectly cooked and tender. We also loved the dipping sauce that came with them.
For dessert, we ordered halo halo and turon. Both were incredible and a good cap to a very nice meal.
Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Choly. The food was delicious, the drinks were great, and the service was excellent.
Super experience with delicious Filipino food! Had Sigsig, Pancit, Kare Kare, Lumpia, and crispy Pata. Met the owner and she was a beautiful gem and very gracious.
It was an amazing experience.
Feels at home… food were excellent… service was really warm… servers are very hospitable… we flew from florida and looked out for filipino restaurant and we did a right choice. Elaine is very accommodating. She’s very nice… me and my husband give her a warm hugs when we left.
Definitely going back here… reasonable price as well.
Cool Filipino restaurant near Washington Square Park. Would recommend trying the lumpiang shanghai (ground pork egg roll) for starters, kare-kare (oxtail stew with peanut sauce) for mains and halo-halo for dessert.
The lumpia is packed with the meat and is quite filling. The kare-kare is tasty and the meat is very tender (i.e. Slides off the bone). The peanut sauce is lovely, and adding the bagoong (shrimp paste) gives it a salty kick. The halo halo has a decent quantity of sweets and is great for warm weather.
The interior has a sailing ship vibe, like being in below deck in a contemporary rendition of a Spanish galleon. This appropriate choice of theme given that the restaurant is located in the basement.
Walked-in around 6: 30pm on a summer night. Interior feels cozy and clean. Ordered sisig and pinakbet. Order came after 10 minutes. Taste is not outstanding but nevertheless, happy to see a full service Pinoy restaurant in the Greenwich/Soho area.
Will hopefully come back with office mates and friends.
Homey food, decent prices, super nice servers and staff who are very accommodating for diets and preferences
Spicy adobo was delicious
Great service and ambiance. My friends and I enjoyed meeting the friendly staff, and the food was authentic and delicious! I am half Filipino, and the cuisine made me feel at home.
Amazing food, service and atmosphere. The bar was such a vibe and dessert brought me back home.
Only in NYC can one find a restaurant bar with such a colorful setting AND authentic food, as advertised. Eat drink and be merry, Mindanao style.
Traditional Filipino food. Very friendly and helpful staff. We are planning to visit again and try the rest of the menu.
If you’re looking for the most authentic Filipino food in NYC, this is without question the best place for it.
Absolutely delicious meal on the ox tail, what a fantastic dinner. Service was amazing. Staff is very welcoming and on top of their game with Filipino touch. This is a hole in the wall in soho area, will definitely come back more often

Such an amazing intimate restaurant with delicious and unique food. The owner was so lovely! Highly recommended
We were looking forward to another Filipino spot in Manhattan to add to our rotation.
The drinks were fine. We asked for a custom cocktail with Calamnsi juice and they made a nice Tanduay white rum based drink. The Red Horse was room temp, so not as refreshing as I was hoping for on a hot day.
Order:
Gambas [3/5]: Good flavor, small portion. 7 shrimps for $15.
Kinilaw [4/5]: Coconut vinegar was good.
**Chicharon Bulaklak [-/5]: Ordered but they ran out and wasn't told until waiting for it for a while. Tried ordering a Lechon Kawali instead but we ran out of time before we had to leave.
All in all, attractive interior and aesthetics. The servers and bar tender are friendly, though we could have used more communication on our order running out sooner. Will come back to try some more staple dishes (Kare Kare, Adobo, Pancit) and update my review based on that.
I love Filipino food and this is the right place to get some and then some more
Delicious made fresh and tasty you would love it. Start with lumpiang mini rolls then spare ribs and really good flan
Visiting from Arkansas. We had a very pleasant experience. The ambience is nice and the staff is very welcoming.
Food is very good. I ordered the Kare Kare, the oxtail is melt in your mouth tender. We also ordered the pansit, which is good too.
Would definitely recommend!
Good food and cozy feel about the place and the people working in it. Highly recommended. I love the kinilaw.the best! Go Pinoy
Choly is a charming spot for Filipino food! We had the lumpia Shanghai, Sisig, kare kare, pompano and turon (for dessert). By far the best thing was the kare kare where the oxtail was falling off the bone. Be sure to ask for fish sauce if you’re not able to eat the shrimp paste that comes with it. The lumpia had well seasoned filling, though I wish it the wrapper was not as well done. Sisig and pompano were good though I would opt for other things if I were to return next time. The star of the turon for me was the ice cream! Excited to see where Choly goes!
