CityMD West 57th Urgent Care - NYC reviews
16Best urgent care center I’ve been to, in or out of New York. I love the virtual waiting line, not just because of Covid precautions, but also because it allows me to do other things instead of sitting in the waiting room. Both times I’ve been I’ve seen the PA Kate, and she is incredibly friendly, understanding, and knowledgable.
I have been here twice for shingles vaccine and a Covid-19 test, each time everyone has been friendly and professional. The place is very clean and follows safe, healthy standards. I didn't have along wait.
When I arrived, I was told that there was a 3 hour wait, and that they would message me when I'd be seen within 30 minutes. After 4 hours, I received a text message. When I arrived at CityMD, they told me that there was another hour wait.
While the staff was polite, they could use some training in empathy to be able to show some understanding to patients who are told to wait such a long period of time, and for the fact that the amount of time could be much longer than what they've told me. They seemed to have no such training or skills.
When I was finally seen, I had 5 minutes with a doctor. The symptoms I had were of a UTI, so they tookk a urine sample and said that the results would come back in 48 hours. In the meantime, they gave me a prescription for an antibiotic. The urine culture came back negative, but no one from CityMD contacted me to say how that result might affect the course of antibiotics.
I called my PCP, and they said there was no reason to take an antibiotic if I did not have a bacterial infection. But again, no one from CityMD followed up with me.
The experience gave me the sense that CityMD is understaffed and does not have the procedures in place for a 3-5 minute follow up phone call.
I also tried calling the After Care number. The phone tree was very time-consuming and unclear, and after sitting on hold for 30 minutes, I finally hung up.
In short, I spent 5 hours for a 5 minute visit, and did not receive either the courtesy or professionalism of a follow-up call.
It did not leave me feeling well-cared-for.
Do not use their services. The staff are far from concerned about providing you with the services you request or need, but rather with their own thoughts.
EDIT: The people who answer the phone are rude and just hang up on patients. This happened 3 times to me today. When you are awaiting test results and are told they will arrive within 3-5 days and you still do not have them, it is upsetting and unnerving. They don't care. When trying to call to get an update, you just get terse rude replies and hung up on.
The doctors are great, but the staff is not.
Saw a PA by the name of Catherine Cazlias. Told me that my primary care doctor as well as previous physicians in the same office (had them pull up my history) we're prescribing the wrong medicine. She says if it worked then I wasn't sick and my doctor of 10 plus years who knows my history is wrong. Prescribes something I am not comfortable taking and then refuses to discuss further after I ask to speak to manager. Manager comes in and says nothing she can do and will refund me. I say I will wait she says I can't and threatens to call the police. LIVID. I am a professional of 20 sum years and never been treated like this. I go to Mi doctor and I'm out the door in 15 minutes with my normal prescription. Took me over 3 hours of waiting and 1 hour in the city md office. Go to Mi doctor. Feel free to see my previous reviews. I never leave a bad one. This is my first.
Best experience I have had with an urgent care clinic ever. Although they said when I arrived I would have a 2-3 hour wait, they got me in within 20 minutes. Very nice and encouraging doctors, nurses, and secretaries. Will be coming back if I have any problems in the future.
This is one of the best Location so far visited.
The entire staff is great!
Highly recommended

Came in for rapid Covid test. First time at CityMD and didn’t know what to expect. Came away feeling good about the experience. All staff, at the front desk and the medical team, were very friendly and helpful. Appreciated that the medical staff did not appear to mind answering all my questions.
Would go back here in the future if a medical need arose.
Very well organized during a busy Saturday morning for Covid testing. The the staff were friendly, patient, and professional.
Horrible covid testing procedures. They tell you they will text you and you have 1/2hour to get back but then make you wait another 1-2 hours in a full waiting room. What’s the point of texting to say you have a place? I wasted 3 hours getting a test that takes 2 mins to get. Will NEVER come back here
That was my third visit to CityMD and the doctors there are terrific! The staff is wonderful! I including the medical assistants! I always feel confident going there knowing that I will continue to get great care.
Always have the best time here anytime I'm having an issue and can't get a GP appointment same day. Thanks guys!
The location and people there including doctors, PAs, reception folks are all awesome.
But they are so bad with data entry of test results for COVID.
They told me I got a positive test and asked me to quarantine but the test result in system reported it as negative. When I followed up on discrepancy there was no explanation or help in resolution besides go wait in line for 3 hours when you possibly have COVID to get tested again
Talented professionals who provide quality care in a well-run facility with caring and capable staff. Highly recommended.
In Feb 2019 very polite and courteous staff at reception (they also process the patient charges) tricked me and lied through their teeth about the TOTAL charges, telling me only a *base fee* amount of $125 and never mentioned ANY additional fees starting at least $100, even though I asked 4-5 times in order to make sure I could afford visiting a doctor at City MD before proceeding to make the appointment for later in the day.
Not living in the USA, with no medical insurance whatsoever, I was visiting NYC and on the day before the *last day* had an allergic reaction on my hands, suspected bug bite, still wanted to make sure - as it did not look pretty. The doctor quickly looked, confirmed the cause and wrote a prescription. It went really quickly I must say. But guess what? An additional fee of $100 being EMAILED to me by City MD almost 2 years later? !? And threats of collecting agencies.
Online, other people have very similar complaints, so yeah City MD does this regularly. I pity those who give them good reviews in the months before getting those additional fees emailed to them. It happened to me from CityMD West 57th Urgent Care - NYC
Happy that none of the restaurants ever emailed us additional charges on the soups and stews, deciding they were worth double of what was initially charged and paid before leaving the venues. LOL
