Clemson Bros. Brewery - New Paltz

We came here today and there was about 5 tables occupied inside and maybe 2 outside and told a 30-40 minute wait. Weird, but okay. So we went to the bar. After 40 minutes I asked how much longer and they said the kitchen is still backed up and didn’t know when they could seat us. Again there’s about 5 tables. Not sure how it’s so backed up. We just ordered food at the bar, while my 2 kids are sat at a high top. Down to 3 occupied tables in the restaurant and told its still backed up. When asking the bartender for a refill on beers or for water for my kids, and even a menu, it was met with an attitude. Most of the staff was standing around chit chatting. Just an overall terrible experience. 2 hours to get 3 basic burgers and a grilled cheese with an empty restaurant is absolutely unacceptable. I’m all for being understanding when an establishment is busy, but this place was nowhere near busy.

When you go to a place on Saturday night (New Paltz) and it’s mostly empty and they tell you they are out of at least 7 or 8 items, the food takes forever And it is marginal at best it seems they might be in the home stretch. I expect they sell or go out of business before long. Management seems to have lost interest.

Not good. We ordered drinks and afterward were informed of the long list of foods not available. Ordered from the available foods, waited 40 min and as they were finally bringing the food we were informed that they didn’t have the noodles for the kids Mac and cheese that my daughter ordered. They offered chicken fingers as a replacement which, when they finally arrived were totally inedible - she ate a granola bar at the table. The other food that did arrive was edible and that’s about the best compliment I can give it. Huge waste of nearly $100 on lunch.

We are from upstate New York, we brought my granddaughter back to college and stopped at this restaurant for dinner, we were told ahead of time that it might take a little longer for our food putting that aside I have to say I never had a worse meal in my life. I ordered the oh my cod sandwich the fish was so dried out and to make it even worse there was maybe a drop of tarter sauce this was absolutely not edible! My granddaughter got the pork belly sandwich the pork was so hard you couldn’t bite. Into it, someone else got a turkey club it had no flavor the fries were tasteless! To say this was a big disappointment doesn’t quite cover it! Please save yourself the trouble and go to a different restaurant.

We made the trip out to New Paltz with the intent of going to Clemson brothers, because we have never been there. We heard it was good so we decided to give it a try. It was Saturday afternoon around 3 PM, beautiful September day, so we figured it would be busy, but we walked in and the place looked at about 20% capacity. We were told to see the hostess at the front, and when we did, she said the wait was about 20 minutes because of the kitchen being understaffed. We put our name down and number and walked up the street to the market. After about a half hour we decided to go to another place and eat. Good thing too, because we never got a text or a call from them. Lol. Hope they find some more help I’d love to check out the place when it’s at full strength!

Nice location, good beer, slow service for some reason during our visit. I got the pork belly and it was.alright. Will try something different next time.

Hate to leave bad reviews but I feel like I have to say something. We got there at 4, and it wasn’t too busy. We waited almost two hours for our food before leaving. Our server disappeared after apologizing for our wait, but two hours for 3 sandwiches was brutal. My friend asked to speak to a manager and someone came over and told us we were “free to go” so we did lol

We have visited this place time to time for the last seven years. Based on my visits in the last 6 months I think it is essentially slowly mismanaged "into the ground". I gave an extra star as in the distant past we had nice times here. After this last visit we will not be returning. Although usually it takes time for the food to arrive, now we waited close to one hour. The place wasn't even close to full. We ordered the drinks and beer first (the good beer is the main reason we come and eat here). So we sat there for 20 minutes nursing the beers on an empty stomach before the waitress came to take the food order. Nothing we wanted was in stock. As we were hungry and "buzzed" we decided to stay and quickly selected from the available food items. After another 40 minutes the food came. It kept giving the next day. The fries did not look and taste fresh. They were seriously short on staff, who at least were nice in spite of their workload. They were not upfront on how badly stocked the kitchen was. They let us have a good deal of alcoholic drinks before they conveyed that most food items were not available. Not a good tactic if you want return customers.

Two hour wait for sandwiches. They were delicious, but not two hour wait delicious. The waitresses and hostess were trying so hard to keep things moving, but if most of your kitchen staff call in on a holiday weekend, maybe you shouldn't open.

Decent place with decent prices. Wait staff was very efficient but for two burgers it took nearly 2 hours and it wasn't
that busy.however, knowing that everyone is understaffed Im sure this isn't the usual way things are run. The food was decent and the beers are great. Overall I would go back.

Another great experience at New Paltz Clemson Bros. Seeing the few bad reviews had us wondering but we felt we needed to share our experience so others will give it a chance. Food is excellent. Beer is amazing. We had zero wait. Our server Jeff was hilarious and very helpful. Everyone bringing us drinks or food came with a smile and nice comment. Maybe some days they are short staffed so service may be slower but today we did not experience any of that and there were plenty of people dining outside with us. Another great experience for the fam!

Out of bacon. Beer cheese. Mozzarella sticks. Caramelized onions. Waitress did not know what type of IPA they had.

We had a fine time at the bar and even snacking on truffle fries, which are always delicious. However, we bought 2 crowlers for home, and when we opened both, they were short. We poured almost 24 ounces out of both but were told they were 32 ounce crowlers: - (

This place won't be in business long, hope they told the staff. They were out of of a bunch of menu items at 5pm on a Saturday. That's either poor management or the owner has stopped investing. Either way, the food that was available was good. The staff was great, but I hope they have lifejackets, cause this ship is sinking.

Delicious food and SUCH friendly staff! Ate on the patio and they were so kind to our dog, it was the perfect spot to unwind after Minnewaska. Thank you for being so welcoming…Willa the black lab thanks you too!

Would give them zero stars if it was an option. We ordered takeout and were given a pickup time. We arrived and they said their online ordering system was rarely used and we had to wait 30 more minutes for them to make our food. Wrong fries and the burger was nearly raw and inedible, after we chose the option "NO PINK. " We paid extra for chicken on a salad which we didn't receive. We called them at least 10 times over the course of three weeks to get a promised refund which never came. We spoke to various staff and all gave us empty promises of "making it right. " Each time we called we were told the manager would contact us, but he never did. He couldn't be bothered. They claimed we were refunded, but our bank cofirmed we were not. They couldn't produce proof that they gave us a refund. Poor management and no customer service. Waste of money. Will never order takeout or dine-in there again. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else!

More than a couple things on the menu were unavailable, tables were left un-bussed and we didn’t get any silverware with which to eat our meal. In addition, the appetizer we ordered came with raw carrots and they were not peeled and had visible dirt. Overall poor experience. Management should be ashamed.

Food was okay service was horrible. Long wait no communication. It was bad enough that I decided to make my first food review ever.

We are locals and use to be frequent guests at the Gilded Otter and we loved it. Went back about one year ago, and were basically ignored by servers after we were sat on the deck and ended up walking out. Decided to give it another chance tonight, sat at the bar high top and were ignored not only by the bartender, but three other servers. At one point, one server actually walked by us and took a selfie, but no one ever made eye contact or said one word, including the host when we walked in the front door.
We waited a full 10 minutes, tried to make eye contact with the staff, and eventually walked out disappointed again. We will never be back!
