Closet Factory, New York NY

Joanie was phenomenal - she was very communicative, quick, and personable. We loved the design she came up with and she was always willing to make edits and changes until we got it just the way we wanted to. Install had a few hiccups, but with our installer and Joanie's help, we were able to get it to the finish line. We love our new office!

Mark was great to work with on the design of my custom closet, especially given the angled ceiling he had to work with. The company was prompt in scheduling the work and amenable to touching up some nicks in the installation process.

This review is 10 months coming. For 10 months I have been trying to get doors added to the closet they installed for me and I am still waiting.
This is despite numerous calls, emails, texts and also having my card charged for work that hasn't been completed.
I've called the NY office, dealt with 2 separate designers, now it's the service team I'm trying to pull an install date out of and honestly EVERY STEP OF THE WAY has been a colossal failure on their part. Do not give this company your money. Their quotes are less than their competitors but I promise you the pain and suffering will not be worth it.
You get what you pay for and I for one wish I had gone with California Closets. Instead, I'm staring at sections of the closet without doors and my belongings are in bags all over my house because the most recent install was essentially a team coming out without the correct materials to do the job and I'm out the money for it.
Make a better choice than I did, give another company your business.

Like several of the other reviews, they missed installation dates and played games. Then they sent someone that was unqualified to do the installation. I bought the double thick upgraded material. From a distance, it looks good. Up close you see right away the person doing the install was in over his head. I have an old house that is not plumb. First he cut my very expensive molding and tried to walk out the door with it. I got it back. Then he installed it backwards. He showed up late and left very late. I was not happy. The idea that the trucks are not getting loaded early early morning is just crazy. Then he reinstalled it in the correct location but damaged one entire side in the process. He did not shim this in. He was not a carpenter. If this had been done by a professional it would have been easy. But it had to be shimmed. Caulk everywhere, damaged the ceiling that now needs to be painted and did a ridiculously messy job. They say they are coming back to fix it, but I highly doubt it. They have until the end of November 22 to fix it. After that, I will have a friend do it and live with it. As I say, from a distance of 6 feet it looks OK. It pisses me off because the finishes in my house are all high end. I should have known better and just used California Closet.
Update, May 2023 They never came back, begged me to remove this review, and never did a damn thing. I strongly recommend avoiding this company.

I had a wonderful experience with The Closet Factory. Joanie was extremely helpful with the design process. She listened to my vision and was able to execute an exact design. Gordon led the installation and was meticulous! He has a wonderful attention to detail. Everyone I encountered from the company was responsive and very customer service focused.

Everything was amazing from start to finish. From consultation with Ruth to installation with Clevon and Kevin, everyone was nice, professional and knowledgeable. We had some hiccups midway but Closet Factory was able to accommodate and still provide amazing service. I think it's worth the price!

We've been clients of the Closet Factory (Mark Riback) for over six years and two different homes. We just finished our 11th (12th?) project with them and are again, so pleased at the finished product. The team is always professional, responsive and takes great care in the design and installation process. Mark is wonderful to work with (and this is coming from someone who is very particular about what I want!). He's great at listening to what you need and helping you conceptualize and design the product (whether it's a closet or a custom built-in). He'll challenge you if he thinks a different layout or design might be better (and he's usually right!) and then he'll design a custom product that works in the space and your budget. Mark doesn't try to upsell and he takes great pride in designing something that is really going to make your space shine. I'm gushing because we really are so truly happy with all of our custom built-ins, the way they look and they way they function for our home and family. The office team is also great (Debbie is always on top of it!) and the install team is always respectful, kind and very detail-oriented. They just finished a custom built-in for our daughter's room and I can't get over how great it looks in the space (and the fact that we no longer have to stare at a pile of toys). Had a wonderful experience with Closet Factory! Magda was our designer and Gordon handled the installation and both were professional and a pleasure to work with. Would definitely recommend! Our new closets look great.

We had Closet Factory install a 3 custom desks. It was bumpy in the beginning, but once the date was set they were communicative about any updates or confirmations.

If we had to order another desk, we would be more specific on the details. We imagined the desk to be 3 separate desk and close to the wall, but on the day of installation the 2 desk became 1 desk and the desk were built into the wall. We don't have any flexibility to remove the desk from the wall. We were able to add in a table mount for one of desk but the other desk weren't able to clip on the mount as the desk is top is solid top.

Overall, the table quality is good and is very similar to our other desk in the office and our employees love it.

Don’t be fooled by the nice photos. This is a lower quality closet installer. They pretend to be high quality and care but they don’t. These are cheap materials and the install is less than perfect. At the end of the day they’re just closets so I used them having used California closets before.

Cali closets quoted me 20k and they quoted me 13.5k. They do have more accessories which is nice but it’s not the nicest quality. I’m ok with imperfections. They don’t paint, care about dings or spackling. If things look bad and don’t align they don’t care. They’ll try to fix with some superficial piece of wood. Remember these closets aren’t “custom custom”.

Wish i negotiated more so try that when you go with these guys. I took their pricing cus it was way cheaper than cali closets.

Oh also, I’m sure they’ll try to respond and say why didn’t u call us to fix the problem. They did call. I told them issues and they never followed up. So that’s what you’re going to get. Cheap materials, Ok install, And fake customer service.
