Co-op City Community Council, Bronx NY

Co-op City is a great example of working class power. This community was built for and by the laboring classes. It was entirely funded by the Garment Workers Union as an investment for the union controlled pension fund. It is a monument to solidarity that must be emulated the world over, however, due to anti-labor assaults by the capitalist class against the working class, like the Taft Hartley Act and fiduciary responsibility for pension fund managers, things like this wonderful place can't be built anymore. We must organize to create our own power structures independent of the market and the state, and ultimately, organize to overthrow capitalism for the benefit of the 99%. Housing is a Human Right!

A nice place to visit or live unless you live on a low floor. All shopping within walking distance. Hard as hell to find parking unless you put it in a garage, and then walk to your building, and in winter, winter lets you know its winter. Other than that, not a bad place to live.

This neighborhood his is built up what was Freedomland amusement park. The community is safe, clean and is completely self contained with it's own powerplant and more.

I went to do my taxes at H&R block for the first time. The prices were just ridiculous to me. I went some place else.

It has a supermarket, called food universe, payless liquor, king pharmacy, chinese restaurant, a diner.a chinese fruit stand, pizza, & kennedy's fried chicken.oh and a small grocery store that sells lotto and mertro cards.

Great place to hang.wonderful stores and restaurants. Come spend a nice day or night with family.

Some shops are terrific - Guang Hi, shoe repair, satellite Post Office, Liquor/Wine shop & Cappy's. Deli is good but too expensive, fruit & vegetables is OK, pizza is good. Kennedy Fried Chicken needs some help - place looks dirty & unappetizing. Food Universe is ridiculous - over priced, need to check dairy, bread & all sale item dates carefully - for a local supermarket they are a rip-off. This center desperately needs help - a new diner, other shops. It's a shame

I attend a baby shower in room 4 at the community center. The room was beautiful. The staff was very helpful. A wonderful time was had by all.

Been going there for 20 yrs. 1st as a artist now as an artist & a steady volunteer.love it!
