Cold Spring Harbor State Park reviews
20Nice place to visit! You can park in the train station.free parking weekends and holidays. Looking for the park on the residential.
Absolutely beautiful and challenging trail. Ultra runners: here’s your trail for hilly and technical training in Long Island!
Great area to go hiking and enjoy the water. Had a boat ramp to the waters. Parking is a bit hard but can park in the streets
It's Okay, alot of climbing, but not alot of views, I was gonna give it a 3, but deducted a star. If your local worth a trip, otherwise I'd pass on this unfortunately.
Good park. It has some uneven terrain - be prepared to climb up stones and tangles of tree branches- but very scenic. Looks clean too. There are many less worn paths/detours that are worth exploring. It is also located by the Cold Spring Harbor Library and Environmental Center, which is a magnificent building. There are bathrooms at the back.
I love it here. I was looking for a new place to live. And park my boat. In the near future. No instructions. Teaching myself
I love this hike! Although not far from the road, a totally "woodsy" feel. A late afternoon sun peaking through the trees adds to the scenery. There are steep ups and downs so would not do this hike if you are unfit. It's an excellent cardio workout.
Recommend the following: Wear good hiking shoes, not sneakers ;if you are alone, don't get distracted by listening to music-pay attention.there are many steps and roots; use walking sticks (virtually no-one had them) : the knees bear all the body weight and can be strained by significant up hills and downhills. Highly recommended!
Great hike with fresh air, meet a lot of nice people along the way. It's a joke that's not too easy so you get enough cardio in but not hard enough to end the hike dying and unable to get back to your car.
Hiking here is a climb up at first. Very good hiking experience. Lot of trees and woods. Can be stenuous at times. Gets the heart going. Lot of hikers who are courteous.
My go to hike spot. Love coming here for a nice workout or relaxing self care walk. Its family and pet friendly. There are some rough climbs but its do-able. There is even the option to take alternative (harder) paths which some people might find confusing but if you stay on the main heavy trailed path you’ll be fine. There are also numbers on trees to keep you on the path (I believe it starts with 100 to 117). The parking lot is on the dirt and if its full you can park across the street. Theres also a beautiful water front view across the street where I go to treat myself after the hike. Cant wait to go tomorrow? !
I like this place. It is a bit of a challenging trail because of all the hills up and down and is also a crowded place. However I enjoyed the hills and it is a beautiful area.
Gorgeous park to visit. We took our dogs on a hot day. There is plenty of shade on the trails. The trails are well maintained. It was a Sunday morning and there were lots of other people out.
Came here twice with my best friend and it was a workout. Omg I was dying but then again we are out of shape lolol. Great hiking path, great scenery, great experience. In total took us an hour to walk up and down. It was worth it.
It is really narrow.no space for groups of people to walk together. It is one behind another in terms of walking in a path.
For a relatively small park there is a good amount of uphill climbing. Alot of crisscrossing trails. Not always clear which is the intended trail ans which is a badly trampled side path.
Get ready to climb! If you're looking for a strenuous, steep (yet safe) hike, definitely take the trip. It's absolutely beautiful, and well-used. Dog-friendly too.
I'm a noob hiker and popped by here just today. To be honest, I'm not really a fan. The path was a bit confusing and there wasn't much to see. I ended up turning back halfway.
Parking was somewhat of a pain. Parking lot was small and crowded.
I honestly enjoyed the water side much more.
Excellent journey. So peaceful and happy there. All of the people are nice. They say hello and wish you a safe travel in your hiking. 6 stars. And my leg was swollen before the hike but I felt good walking on the soft reddish dirt.
Great trails to built up endurance. Not for those who have being sitting with little movement.
Slowly for those who have fatigue and breathing problems. Take time to rest.
Love this place the hills are a good incline challenge and it connects to the woodburry trail if you want to add some extra miles. First part is normally pretty crowed but the other parts only have a light amount. Definitely recommend for any level.
