Coldwater Animal Hospital, Rochester NY

I’ve been taking my cat here for about 5 years and have never had anything less than an extremely positive experience, whether it be in person or over the phone. My cat is very difficult and aggressive, she does not like strangers and hates being in the car but I truly trust this entire staff with her well being and they are always kind and reassuring that she is not a problem. I’ve had terrible experiences with other vets in the past and am so thankful I found Coldwater to keep my little munchkin in good health.

I really want to thank the woman at Coldwater Animal hospital for the amazing help they gave me today when I needed to put my cat down. They came right out and helped me threw the whole process of putting my cat Pepper down and I was in and out before I even knew it! Huge shout out to Dr. Nemcheck, her assistant Taylor, and the tech Rachel for such amazing customer service and how compassionate they were towards me. I left with such a great feeling of being taken care of right and I would most definitely reccomend Coldwater Animal shelter to who ever is looking for a great animal shelter.

This place advertises fear-free visits on their website. However, If you are looking for a fear-free visit, this is NOT the place to bring your dog. They are also not actually fear-free certified if that's what you're looking for in a vet. I have a very fearful and anxious dog that does not trust strangers. Brought him here hoping they would understand how to handle my difficult dog and treat him respect. Told them he was difficult and they assured me that they have dealt with difficult dogs at their practice. I must disagree. My dog was treated like a wild animal. My dog would not calm down, so Dr. Klovstad suggested pulling my dog's leash through the door hinges, then slamming the door on him so they could get the injection in without him seeing. This is what they do to livestock, as he explained. He was able to get the shot in but my dog was so frightened and worked up that the sedative ended up having no effect. The doctor walks in after a while and says we could try slamming my dog in the door again or we could take him home. He also joked that if he had a tranq gun, like they use on wild animals, it might work. Of course I refused treatment and was then hit with a large bill. This incident traumatized my dog. Please don't let it happen to yours. I'm sure Dr Klovstad is a great vet, but if you have a reactive, anxious, aggressive, fearful dog, please DO NOT GO HERE.

My dog would tremble going to the vet, until Coldwater now she literally runs to the door to get in! Very good place

Outstanding! Unlike many other places, they will not leech money out of you by taking advantage of the love you have for your pet. Very down to earth doctors and knowledgable techs. They happen to be around the corner from us, but I'd drive 2 hours just to keep them as our vet. Can't recommend them enough.

Saved my cat's life. I couldn't be more blessed. I can't give them a 5 out of 5 due to the prices. I don't find it competitive to the market.

I love my doctor and all the staff I've met. My dog has developed health issues with age over the last year and they always get me right in and are willing to listen and advise based on my needs. My dog just had some teeth pulled and everyone was so supportive and worked very hard to make sure he made it through and was cared for when I was a mess! I do not live as close as I used to, but it's worth it to drive a little further for me!

Please read the previous negative reviews about overcharging-I experienced it myself. Was told a Lyme shot was $40, and it required a follow-up shot, meaning the service will cost $80 (never disclosed that) AND they will also charge you another $35 for the “exam” and a $5 office charge when you get the second shot (also never disclosed). Do yourself a favor-when they offer you the list of extra shots they offer, get it in writing first.

For close to 20 years, I have entrusted the the care of my dogs to the fine people at Coldwater Animal Hospital. They have provided the peace of mind that comes with kind, compassionate, and professional care, and a genuine affection for ALL of their pet clients & pet parents. They have always provided me with all the necessary info I would need for any treatments or procedures, and the entire staff is courteous and helpful. A+

Failed to give us an estimate of the costs to get our cat spayed. Told us they would send us a line estimate by e-mail, but never did. Got the bill and it was three times more expensive than the next place I called. Completely ripped off and overcharged.

The entire staff is friendly and knowledgeable. I couldn't imagine taking our pups anywhere else.

Very caring staff. Treats our dog with love. They do push a lot of treatment as crucial when the procedures and medicine are suggested rather than desirable.

I LOVE COLDWATER ANIMAL HOSPITAL! Dr. Nemcheck, Dr Korte & all the technicians and staff. They have taken the very best care of all my dogs in the last 15+ years I have been going here. The care and compassion shown at each visit is top notch. I wouldn't go anywhere else.

This is the best animal care facility I have ever used! The vets, the technicians, and all the other staff really care about animals and their people. We have gone through many sad times in the last year or two in losing some geriatric cats. They were so compassionate with us and with our kitties. I would recommend this highly!

I love this place.staff is very friendly and helpful.very clean building. I've never had to wait any length of time to be seen. Dr. Nemcheck is the vet that my cat is treated by.she is very compassionate and personable.had her office call a few days after treating my cat to see how she was doing. I highly recommend them.

We're very happy with the service at Coldwater. They're warm, and honest. The vets and techs do a fine job with our pets.
