Colonia Verde reviews
18The patio at the back is a really nice place to sit, service great, the food is not bad at all lots of veggie choices. My only complaint is that the potatoes were completely tasteless. Probably some industrial potatoe.
Disappointing service and overpriced food. Menu has some interesting options which we appreciate but very over priced. Who pays 19$ for 2 tacos. Q pendejada
Excellent food
Great flavours
Great presentation
Great neighbourhood spot
Great for sharing with a group of friends
This is my 4th time going here. I can easily say now it’s one my favorite restaurants in Brooklyn.
Today I went here for lunch, I’ll do a review for dinner later.
There were 3 of us, Tortilla Chips were just for sides, and here are the mains:
1. Shrimp Tacos (️5/5)
The tacos were soft, but the filling — they’re just the perfect combo. Shrimp, avocado, and some sauces that blend really well with them. My guest said “omg this is so good! ” And it makes me happy!
2. Steak (️4/5)
I asked for a medium and they got it right. They’ll serve with rice.
3. Gringo Churros (️5/5)
Ok so this is a must-try whenever you go to Colonia Verde. It’s like a donut churros. So crispy on the outside and moist yet airy on the inside. They have sugar on it and it’s paired with a dark chocolate sauce. My favorite.
All servers were nice and friendly. No need to doubt about the restaurant’s vibe – it’s just so good.
Disappointed. The shrimp appetizer "Shrimp Al ajillo" was the WORST. The shrimps were not fresh they should never serve that to anyone; Taco was average; trout was our favorite, it was fresh and well cooked. We went on a Sunday night and that was probably the first mistake, never again I go to a restaurant on Sundays.
Delicious drinks, food, people. Each zone of the restaurant has a vibe: garden is cheerful and rustic, back room is warm and cozy and the bar feels lively and casual. Always a new experience and always a delight.
This is a neighborhood gem inspired but traditional small Mexican plates, great vibes, staff is super helpful… if you’re into natural wines this is the best spot in Fort Greene to spend an afternoon.
For me this was a bit of a disappointment. The short menu is not imaginative, containing your staple Mexican foods but there was nothing else. Service not great, the lady who attended us seemed angry but I am not sure why. The food was ok. I liked my dish although two people in my group of 4 were not so happy.
Absolutely phenomenal food, space, and atmosphere. Service was impeccable and our server was very knowledgeable! We were a bit disappointed to be physically rushed out despite making a reservation (and being on time for it) but we were told to leave by a certain time when sat and wanted to be respectful of the next reservation. Again, altogether lovely dining experience, just wish we’d been given more time.
Brunched here. Chic interior, decent brunch fare. Duck calentado disappoints—only 2 shreds of duck in a sea of rice and eggs. Feijoda is flavorful, though. Drinks? A definite win.
Phenomenal drinks from a bartender that also provided pitch perfect service. To anyone reading this, please understand that this is a very demanding job and we all work under the constant threat of a bad review, despite not knowing what aspects of an experience any given customer will choose to judge. I have no affiliation with this place, but they appear to deserve more credit than they’ve been given. Thank you Colonia Verde!
Spectacular food in such a cozy and welcoming spot. We sat in the back garden and it was so so lovely. Great, friendly and helpful service. And the food! The blackened bone marrow was fantastic, loved the trout (that sauce!) and the corn salad was also great. Loved the carnitas tacos. We’ll be back for sure, next time with friends.
Came here for a birthday and had an amazing experience! Food was amazing, service was quick, and the ambience is really nice.
Consistently fantastic! Great food, fantastic wine, absolutely unreal agave list. Cannot recommend enough.
We got table early afternoon without booking and were very excited. Food service and atmosphere makes it a special place. With 2 drinks and 2 mains we payed less than $100. I recommend booking in advance as getting table for walk-in may be challenging.
Overall the food was good but we were uncomfortable most of the time there. The seated us on the high table in the front and basically squeezed us between two large parties. We kept getting hit with more people trying to squeeze in and then they asked us to move over to make room. Took a while to get the waitresses attention but they were nice. Overall didn’t have a great impression - you can also find better (and cheaper) food nearby.
Very awkward service. We were seated to the table with food leftovers dried out on top, dirty utensils and some sand. When we pointed it out - we were given a napkin to clean it if we want. There was also plenty of tables available. Then we ordered 2 lattes and one cappuccino. Were served three exactly same cups of coffee and when we double-checked that there seem to be no cappuccino waiter said us - “yes, it’s cappuccino. What do you want for food? ”. No attempt to understand what’s the confusion about or how to make it better. Extremely disappointed and won’t come again, despite great food quality.
Lovely night with family
