This place is very unprofessional! The workers don't know how to speak to their customers the right way. My mom had went to get a couple of things done and when asking questions or for directions of where to go there was always a problem. Their ways of speaking is grotesque and horrible. The only person that spoke to my mom with respect was the lady that took her cedula picture. Everyone else was highly disrespectful.

8 weeks ago I went to the Consulado to start the process for my Dual Citizenship. I had read some reviews on here so my expectations were very low to begin with. I made an appointment and the security guard told me I had to go across the street in front of Harry Potter, speak to the other guard and make the line (what's the point of an appointment?). Luckily, I didn't have to wait on line, instead I was sent back across the street and upstairs. I was in complete shock when I saw the amount of people in the main waiting room. There was absolutely no protocol for Covid or any type of organization!

I made my way to the back office where they process Dual Citizenship and I was the only one there. The lady helping me was cordial, new, and moved at sloth-speed. She sent me to pay (no card or ATM machine working) with the quickness though. She explained that I needed to call in 6 weeks in order to make another appointment to come back in to take my picture and finger prints. It makes no sense to me why they can't just do it on the spot but I said ok and left. Pretty quick, in and out.

I should've known it wouldn't be so simple when I heard people complain about the inconsistencies of the place (and all the reviews I read). "Last time you took card, now you don't. "You said you would call and no one did plus you don't answer the phone, so I just showed up. "

This week, I attempted to call and guess what, they NEVER answer the phone. I decided to show up to the office and was told to go straight upstairs. Again the main waiting room was a disaster but the Dual Citizenship office was empty. This time, the person that "helped" me was the main girl that does this process. I mentioned how no one ever called me, and that I tried to call but no one responded. Her response was of baffling, "Imagine we spent our time answering phone calls and emails, none of this paperwork will ever get filed. " I literally had nothing to say. She was so convinced that her response was acceptable that it was enough for me to understand that this office has no hope.

Supposedly they will call me and let me know when my papers have "arrived" (do they not use computers?) since they are behind due to covid (sure). Then I have to go back at least two more times in order to get my citizenship and cedula. Trying to get a passport will be a completely different process (that I will not do.)

Believe the reviews, some people are cordial but the office itself is a mess and it's embarrassing!

Worst experience ever. Gave it 1 star because the option for zero star was not available. After dealing with the rude, incompetent, lazy Dominican people that operate this embarrassment of a place I BECAME A CITIZEN OF THE USA. I will never have to set foot in that horrific scam that should be closed due to fraudulent activities. EL CONSULADO DOMINICANO ES UNA VERGUENSA LLENO DE LADRONES. My advise is to become a USA citizen so that you won’t have to deal with people such as these.

This place is unprofessional. Waited 4 hours to receive a legal paper. Waited one hour for A STAMP. The worker who had my paperwork was literally drinking coffee, making jokes for the longest time. Went inside to ask who had my paperwork and how much longer it would take and surely enough this man had my paperwork in his hand. After approaching him, still took 40 mins to finalize a stamp. The wait is absolutely ridiculous honestly. Not to mention, after getting here was told that I could pay with my card. When I get to the cashier she tells me Cash. GET IT TOGETHER!

Services super slow, over 4 hours to get a legal form, had to use the ATM as no cards are accepted, waiting for a signature & so call stamps took another hour and half will DEFINATELY not be back to this place. This is definitely not how you provide services your community.

This is the most crooked place on earth. The sole purpose of this consulate is to separate the people from their money. Dominicans taking advantage of other Dominicans. They have no shame, just grab the money. They deliberately enter erroneous information into the system and then charge a fortune ($400 cash only) to correct the information. The New York consulate and the consulate in the dominican republic are both the same, ladrons.

It was like they picked the most croocked, apportunist and lazy people of my homeland to work there, different prices cash only shady as hell. Went there twice for a birth certificate from the capital and they still could not help me. How the unied states is right now deporting any one for anything you would think they would hire competent people to work there, but then again i was told its politics they are there because of family how nice and disturbing.

I went to this place and its the worse. I want to change my wife last name to her married name, and apart tha there are tone of incompetent people, i still have no idea what to do because one person tell me one thing and the other person tells me the other. I lost a day at work and i wasted a day because these people dont care about nobody but to just charge. Sadly we cant do nothing but just take it.
