Consulate General of the Russian Federation in New York

Professional and compassionate staff. One of the best experiences i've ever had in any Embassy or Consulate. We went there to get a passport for a child, and all people we met at the Consulate were very helpful, polite, and caring. Our case was not easy but they went far and beyond to get it done.could not be happier.

Things got much better since the appointment system was introduced: no lines, no wait, in and out under 30min. Perhaps one day the trip will not be needed at all and I will be able to send documents by mail?

The visit was took me only about 15 minutes. Everyone was very polite and helpful. Also, I had no problem scheduling an appointment via the website, and there was no waiting line, I even was admitted a bit earlier the appointed time.

The staff is very polite and detail-minded. Work is done with exceptional quality. We also watched how much they helped old ladies.

Called needing help getting a passport for my other half who was adopted from russia. Got told the guy spoke English i told him what i needed help with and then he just grunted and hung up

Twice they gave me the wrong date of birth on my passport. Everything is as disorganized and superficial as possible. I've been waiting for my passport for 6 months and I'm still waiting.

I would like to express my immense gratitude for the professionalism, incredible human understanding and amazing patience of all the employees of the consulate in New York. Notary department, I had an appointment at 10.30 on September 27,2023. Resolved a difficult issue. I flew in from the Czech Republic, where it is now almost impossible to resolve any issue at the Russian consulate. I myself work with people, I am the chief physician and I know how difficult it is. My question at the consulate took a very long time and therefore I was an involuntary witness of work not only with me, but also with many other clients. I was very impressed, pleasantly surprised by the professionalism and patience of all the employees. Even my patience as a doctor (I’ve been working since 2006) I’m afraid would not be enough to so respectfully and without losing patience explain the basic truths to our fellow citizens, who found out everything in advance from a neighbor and on Google and came to tell the professionals how they should work properly. Thank you for your assistance.

I just went for my passport renewal. The system changed my appointment last minute after my ticket to NY was booked. I arrived at the Consulate not expecting anything but being told to get out and come back on the day of my new appointment. But I was approached very friendly, and the person was kind and empathetic. He let me in no problem. No blame, no lecturing. The person who processed my documents was very friendly and kind. I told him I was nervous. I apologized that some forms are not complete because I did not know what to write. He said not to be stressed or worried. He said, we will do everything, please do not worry. For a second I was not convinced I was at the Russian consulate:).
Lots have changed. Great staff is working there now. I left very happy and appreciative. Thank you!

I’ve called the embassy a few times to ask some questions regarding replacing the passport, and Natalia, the lady who answers the phone, has always been very helpful and friendly. She always gives you full information and even more to make sure that you will not forget anything. Just wanted to say thank you for such good service!
