I am staying in Montauk for a few days and I wanted to go fishing but being a complete novice I didn't know what type of gear I needed what kind of rod what kind of reel, what kind of line. I went to cool gear for fishing at their address in Montauk, and spoke with the proprietor, and he was very helpful. He asked me some questions about what type of fish I was going for.
Whether I was going to fish, off of a dock or jetty or from a boat.
When I told him and told him my budget he recommended the type of rod type of real the type of line. I should use what type of hooks I should use the weight of the sinkers and hooks with spreaders, and he totally set me up and he even wound the line on my real for me. He was very very helpful from start to finish and he stayed within my budget. I used the gear he set me up with and I am very very happy with it. I would highly recommend this business to anyone, the proprietor really knows his stuff, and he genuinely cared about me having a good time fishing with the right equipment and not just making a sale.

I wanted to purchase some starter fishing gear for striped bass. The store had everything I needed and the owner Bob was extremely helpful. I purchased a surf rod and reel setup, clams, striped bass rigs, sinkers, and bunker fish. Bob pointed out a few spots for me to surf fish at which were successful. Thank you coolgearfishing.
