Corporate Habitat reviews
4 I wish I could give 0 stars. The worst and shadiest landlords I’ve ever encountered (and I’ve dealt with my fair share of shady landlords). Avi (the proprietor) and Hannah (the admin) are both extremely incompetent, rude and unresponsive.
1. Avi and his team “accidentally” withdrew more than $7000 from my bank account. Only after I threatened with legal action did he return the money.
2. The apartment was not at all as described. We expected a 2 bedroom apartment. We were provided a flex apartment (basically a fake wall that separates the two bedrooms). It was never mentioned. The apartment was a studio shoddily converted into a 2 BR. We were absolutely scammed here.
3. The furniture in the apartment did not resemble the furniture displayed when we signed the lease. It was extremely old and ratty. We had to complain. They only replaced the furniture when we had 3 weeks left on our lease.
4. They were 2 weeks late in returning our security deposit. This is ILLEGAL per NY state law. Then they lied about when the check was sent (saying they sent it immediately).
Ultimately we had plenty of prerogative to take them to small claims court but didn’t think the effort was worth it. I would avoid this business (if they can even consider themselves a business) at all costs.
Worst experience ever. I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to do business with them.
They are very unprofessional, unresponsive, and rude. Below are the key (but not all) issues:
1. Apartment wasn't as described/advertised. When we contacted them about this, the response was "What do expect for this price in FiDi? ". No words needed.
2. They charged an $1800 broker fee for a 10 week lease. The broker was actually Avi, who owned the property. Sketchy.
3. Furniture was nowhere close to what was advertised.
4. We had multiple issues related to payments/refunds. One example is that they were 2 weeks late in returning our deposit.
Just save yourself the trouble and work with another agency.
This company does not do honor their contracts and does not reimburse renters for their deposits. Do NOT do business with them or give them your money.
