8Very very disappointed in the cookies. I’ve had cookies and pastries from this bakery my whole life (68 years) and today I was in Brooklyn and HAD to stop for fancy cookies. I can’t believe the taste. Awful. And the sandwich cookies used to be filled with delicious jelly. Now there’s some kind of pink stuff that is hard and sticky like glue. What the hell are they doing there! What a major disappointment!
While the service here is garbage, the Cannoli (4.5/5) is very good and probably one of the better if not the best cannolis in NYC. The small Sfogliatelle was nice also (3.5/5) but dry.
Cannoli (4.5/5) - Almost the perfect cannoli except the shell tasted a little bit burnt. The filing was perfect - creamy, milky ricotta with small little chocolate chips which wasn't overly sweet. Lots of places will mix cream in but not this place - the filing was decadent.
Sfogliatelle (3/5) - the outer shell was lovely nice and crispy and held its shape even when I cut into it, but while the filing is tasty and has great notes of orange, it's quite dry.
Also the service is ridiculous - the lady at the counter wouldn't accept my money because it had a small tear in it. If the bank can accept it, why can't you?
I bought multiple items from this bakery just to try them out. Unfortunately, every single pastry ranged from subpar to terrible. I bought them for friends & family & no one liked them, so I ended up throwing them out. I honestly don’t know how this place stays in business. I wish them well, & hope they can improve the quality of their baked goods. I just can’t recommend them.
This place has been her doing what they do best for 75 years! Fast and friendly service and delicious Italian pastries. Had to get our zeppole for St. Joseph's Day!
This old school Italian bakery serves great cannolis & cookies by the pound. The Spumoni is won't be available until the spring but there are other interesting items available this winter though.
Took an advice from an old friend and got myself a pound of Italian “everything” cookies plus several rainbow cookies on top. I brought them to thanksgiving dinner and were favored. I’m gonna get myself some soon.
From the neighborhood grew up have enjoyed the pastries my whole life happy the shop still exists, stopped in Nov 23 2022, same great taste.
