A lovely place to sit and have a glass of wine, some snacks, and of course macarons. Beautiful setting! Much nicer than other steel-shed tasting rooms.

Lovely and cozy almost like a French winery. The servers were friendly and knowledgeable. Check out the Sparkling Rose - Cuvee

Went there yesterday with my husband. I chose it. Overall, Was not happy with the place.
Positive things: Looks like a country site spot, cozy, with a lot of flowers and garden chairs.
Negative: it was hot day. Small umbrellas do not cover you completely from the sun light. No good snack is offered (we were hungry, hot weather, testing wine - I became drunk right away and did not enjoy the testing at all. It should be in traditional big wineries with A/C and cool temperature inside.

Not a joyful experience but great rose!

I am giving this review three stars because although the wine was wonderful, it seemed very clear from the beginning that they wanted us to drink and leave. Wine tasting should be a joyful experience in a beautiful setting, shared with friends. The setting was lovely, and the wine was good, but the experience was less than ideal.

In their defense, it was a very rainy day. On a weekend. And they were full. When we arrived, the host said the only place left to sit was in the main reception barn-like area (this is the area with clothing for sale etc). They had lots of little tables there and it was perfect for us actually, So we said that absolutely we would love to sit there, but the host seemed disappointed that we chose to stay. We ordered our flights and we were enjoying ourselves and it started really pouring down rain. Wrath of God rain. So, as always, when that happens with any venue where folks are sitting outside, they had to relocate outside tables; there was a lot of commotion, a lot of shuffling, and this was to be expected. The person who was serving us came in dripping wet. We were commenting on how nice her jacket was, because it was a perfect rain jacket for the venue. She seemed a bit aggravated, and I’m sure she was a little flustered trying to find seats for everyone who was sitting outside.
She asked if we were done, and we told her that we were still sampling our flights and talking. She sighed and left, so we changed our mind and we did not linger. Often we would linger, but we drank fairly quickly because we felt unwelcome and rushed. As we were sitting there, at least four other couples were waiting for our table. They were sort of hovering around, there was nowhere really else to wait, because of the rain. So it was odd. Imagine sitting in a restaurant and somebody standing right behind, with their arms and legs brushing you while you finish up.

We love their wines, and as we were finishing up, we decided to purchase some bottles, and we asked about purchasing them (because sometimes they will bring them to you or you add to your bill at the table) and the same host was pretty dismissive, and said "yes, you just order them someplace else, are you done? " And it became clear that we were really being rushed out. I was also looking to buy a dress that was there and wanted to try it on, but again, it was hard to even turn around at the place, much less try on a dress. It’s a shame, because the vineyard is gorgeous and I know that it’s tricky for them when it rains because they don’t have a lot of space, but they were really quite grumpy.

So the wine is five stars, and the setting and bathroom are 5 stars (hint: one of the stalls has a French video playing). However, the service is only three. I really love the bathroom and the setting, and the wine itself, but we were really made to feel unwelcome. It’s not like we were being loud or picking our noses or anything. We are a respectable group of 50-something-year-olds, and I lived in San Francisco for many years and pretty much spent all of my weekends in the wine country. This is certainly not our first winery experience. We know how to behave ourselves.
And we weren’t lingering by any means. The couple next to us was still sitting at their table and they were there when we arrived and there when we left. The server/host did not ask if we had any questions about the wines or which ones we were enjoying. When we ordered, she told us since we had two flights that we needed to move our stuff off of the table to make room. That was it. Then she just dropped everything and ran off. We will give them a second chance when we visit next year as the vineyard is gorgeous and perhaps she was having an off-day

Beautiful setting for a light lunch. We all had the lobster rolls and rosè (of course). Staff were very friendly and attentive.

This is a lovely vineyard! The grounds were pretty and well set up although a bit small. We went on a Monday afternoon with no reservations but were quickly accommodated as it wasn’t packed at that day/time. The staff were nice and friendly. We got the still rosé wine flight which was 6 for $28 and they were set up nicely. There could’ve been a more variety of food on the menu, but overall, it was a lovely vineyard to visit and will plan on going back.

Beautiful, but visitors beware. I rarely leave disappointing reviews, but my experience with the staff at Croteaux was just that—disappointing. We took the time to drive out from NYC to spend a day in the North Fork, but the staff and service here was just plain cold. I’m not sure if it’s pretentiousness, but they seem incredibly annoyed at their guests and paying customers. Likely an issue with their upper management because there is no way a happy staff would have such poor attitudes while working. In my opinion, come here if you want beautiful views of a well-maintained vineyard (the location and venue is picturesque & VERY Instagram worthy—which is why I think they have so many visitors). However, the interactions you MAY encounter with staff (from start to finish) will likely sour your experience.

Outdoor area is fantastic. We got the 181 Merlot rose. Dry and light.server and host were both friendly and working hard while still paying attention to current guests. Beautiful venue. They has large party accomodations and small two person spots as well

Definitely Instagram pretty. A fun place to go with a group. But if you want a quiet place where you can enjoy your wine and the outdoors, this isn’t the place. (Maybe it’s quieter on the weekdays but we went on a Saturday).

Pretty place to relax and drink rose wine. Great atmosphere! Their wines and Provencal Basket were delicious!

Been here twice now and loved my visits! The atmosphere at Croteaux is gorgeous and the staff are friendly. The wine is a bit acidic for my liking, though. I really enjoy the Sparkling Chloe, but the others are a little too tart for me. Would love to see them branch out into some different sweetness levels for their roses!

If you drive to Croteaux Vineyard from Manhattan or take the ferry from Connecticut and do nothing else besides enjoy their wine tasting and breathe in the aromas from their thousands of vineyards, the trip will be worth it!

As long as you arrive close to when it opens, you will have the opportunity to choose from a variety of wonderful views. I came with a group and we chose to sit in one of the more enclosed areas. It felt more private. I loved feeling like we were surrounded by nature. The staff were very friendly. The wines however…AMAZING. I am such a rosè fan. Every single one was delicious. I am so glad I got a flight. The venue was also very photo friendly. Everywhere you turned, there was another great shot.

We sat on the Adirondack chairs at the edge of the patio looking out on the vineyard. It was just magical with the bees and the butterflies working overtime on the lavender while we sipped leisurely at our rosé wine flight. Friendly service and tasty wines. A civilized and delightful way to spend an afternoon on the North Fork.

This vineyard is a must when visiting the North Fork. Even if you don’t love Rose the atmosphere is relaxing and landscape is gorgeous. We went to 3 Vineyard's before arriving at Croteaux and we were so surprised to find that it was busy. The other 3 vineyards were empty! (All though it was a Thursday afternoon) The staff was friendly, informative and attentive. Most importantly the Rose was excellent both the sparkling and the still.
