I ate a meal in the lounge area alone. It was rather noisy. When they sat me, they dropped the table on my shoes. They gave me extra things I didn't order, which I happened to have been allergic to. The food was bland, if not outright almost inedible. I felt disrespected by the other diners.

I left no tip.

Daniel used to be an excellent restaurant, but like Per Se they have been relying on their reputation and have passed their prime. Food and service were lacking on our recent visit, and guests were wearing sweaters instead of jackets - another sign of lowered standards.

We came here years ago (before the renovations). The second time was so much more memorable - the food, the service and the atmosphere are all perfect.

Daniel is one of the best restaurants I've been to in my life. I went with my girlfriend for our anniversary. We had the mindblowing tasting menu, which included 7 courses, and a whole assortment of other dishes and desserts they surprised us with. At the recommendation of a friend, we decided to do the wine pairing and share it between the two of us. That was easily more than enough, given how many dishes there were. Each wine complemented their corresponding dish perfectly. The waiters were even kind of enough to top our glasses up even when we didn't ask for it. Topnotch service. They were also very attentive, folding our napkins if we left the table and helping us to push our seats in when we sat down.

By the end of the meal, we were both completely stuffed. They kept giving us more food and desserts that were not listed on the menu. We were also definitely feeling the effects of the wine pairing we split. I don't even know how someone can do a single wine pairing on their own. It's way too much alcohol. My biggest pet peeve with fine dining is it's often not filling. But Daniel was so worth its high cost.

Their tasting menu changes every season, so I definitely plan to come back for another amazing dining experience.

Great food material levels. Creative and clever assemblages. Wine pairing slightly disappointing / expensive for what the wines are.

Unbelievable good high-end dining experience. The dining room is stunning. The service was absolutely amazing, the food spectacular. 4 course Prix fixe plus drinks for 2 of us was US$650 but you it’s not every day you find yourself in NYC without small children!

I came here to celebrate my 40th birthday. This was a treat for me, I'm not wealthy man and not a poor man lol. I come to know to Mr Boulud from an action bronson video. I knew from that video that i wanted to come here. They did not disappoint my experience. I'll see you guys again on my 45th. Thank you so much. It was delicious and memorable. And come back to DC, I miss dbgb, that's much closer for my maryland self. Good night!

Overall quite disappointing for a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The flavors were not well balanced, some the food textures were off, and the meat was tough. While the service was very pleasant, there was a lag in attentiveness, not suitable for a Michelin restaurant. Otherwise very detailed and creative plating, and the atmosphere was decent. This is in comparison to my experience with other 3 star Michelin restaurants, including Le Bernardin and Per Se, which were much top-notch, and would highly recommend instead

Overall, the food is decent. The place offers an elegant ambience that makes the experience memorable. However, I was really disappointed with the level of service and care they offered the clients.

The staff are not flexible in accommodating changes in reservations. They were notified in advanced to modify the reservation from a party of two to three. We have received a confirmation that the party modifications were successful. But on the night of, the reservations weren't modified after receiving a confirmation that it was. Additionally, the hostess, who is the first person who greeted us and checked us in was rude, dismissive and unhelpful to my guests. She did not handle the situation with finesse or the respect that the place commands.

Another host from the tasting room who seated us to our table was also very disrespectful and unprofessional. He even made an insulting remark saying "I am sure we can find a very small tight table to fit you all in. " My guests who were visting from California, were appalled by the poor and very unprofessional characters of the staff.

To conclude this review, I just like to emphasize that in NYC where competition between restaurants are very strong, customer service goes a long way to making the experience memorable. Where you have the likes of Chef Éric Ripert of Le Bernardin and Chef Thomas Keller of Per Se. Daniel with its disappointing client sevice have failed to provide a very meanigful experience. Where the distatesful characters of the hosts overshadowed a carefully curated tasting experience.

Unfortunately, my guests expected a lot more from a restaurant of this stature. It isnt my first time dining at Daniel but this will certainly be my last.

I have done a lot of fine dining for work over the years and there are very few places that make me feel as specials as Daniel does. The attention to detail in everything from the space itself, the lightening, the impeccable service the staff delivers literally will make you feel like a billionaire. VIP service all the way. The course meal is a delightful adventure and the wine is the cherry on top. I am still thinking about the tiny stool they offered for my handbag. Truly remarkable experience.

My husband and I had the pleasure of dining at Daniel for my birthday while visiting NYC, and it was such a beautiful experience. Our waiter, Piotr, was nothing short of outstanding. His excitement for the menu, made it a delight. We ordered the four course with wine pairings along with the cheese selection at the end. It was wonderful!

Chef Daniel even greeted us and asked us about our meal as he passed through. I cannot wait to return to NYC to dine at Daniel. One a side note, they accidentally spelled my name wrong on my birthday dessert, but brought me a second. Attention to detail, hence the 2 Michelin status.

My first time visiting a restaurant of this caliber. I was very impressed with the service and their addition to detail. Our server was splendid and really made the experience better for us. Sadly the food fell a little short of expectations.

We got the 7 course tasting menu and everything looked great, but nothing was that good in my opinion. The abalone was a bit over cooked and duck was tough to cut even though it was very medium. At some point, the courses kind of meshed together. The best thing was probably the tilefish. As my boyfriend stated, everything tasted a bit like Thanksgiving, maybe due to the berries and flavors and sauces. I also found the speed of the courses to be a bit too slow. We are slow diners, but even so, I think it took 20 minutes for our last entree to come out. Desserts were delicious, but overwhelmingly too many (even for my sweet tooth).

It was a splendid place to celebrate an occasion (me and my boyfriends anniversary), but I will say I was very disappointed that we were not given any madeleines to take home like everyone else was, possibly because we had a later seating at 9: 00pm. The food was quite forgettable for the $275 per person price tag, but at least it was a nice setting

Food is good with attentive service. The portions for the 4 course dinner are very filling and there are several extras throughout. Expensive but worth a splurge for a special occasion.

The atmosphere is very relaxing for such a high end place. Nice lighting and cozy tables. The service is excellent, many servers checking on us with appropriate timing. The food is next-level amazing. Going here to dinner is not just, "grabbing a bite to eat" it is an event and an experience. Each course is beautifully crafted and presented with finesse. The dishes are thoughtfully created with explosive results. The mesh of delectable herbs, spices, fresh ingredients hits the palate in a way that makes you question "If this is food, what have I been eating all these years? " My personal favorite was the Anchovy Stuffed Baby Squid. Absolutely delicious. It is insanely expensive, but I would encourage people to try the height of cuisine at least once. I am sure glad I did:)

The foie gras was phenomenal, and so I’d recommend getting this supplement. We chose the 4 course menu, which ended up being incredibly filling. Atmosphere is very much laid back and the lights got dimmer towards the end of the night. Service was top notch, but we were slightly disappointed that the madeleines weren’t as good as we had imagined. If they were served a bit warmer they would’ve been better.

Seriously the most awfully experience in the Michelin star restaurants.
My fiancé and me are going ones a week to Michelin star restaurants so I know what I am talking about. This restaurant does not deserve it at all I don’t know what exactly happened with the chef who was cooking that but it was impossible to eat, (it looked good, but whet you try it…. Seriously the most worst food I had in the restaurants) The atmosphere … tables are too close, not Michelin at all. Never come back again

Fabulous cuisine-Amazing service - terrific ambience. A very special place for any occasion. The staff celebrated our honeymoon with a special dessert- thank you so much. Truly a friendly and welcoming Michelin Restaurant - it should have 4 Michelin stars!
