Dante's Trattoria, Mahopac NY

Dante’s has great pizza. A classic NY pie that has all the characteristics of what old school pizza should have. The only reason I can’t go five stars is consistency, which is huge for me. I need it to be great everytime, not hit or miss. Other than that, I did have a great pizza experience at Dante’s. I still recommend it, and hopefully you catch them on a good day and have the same experience I did.

Best old school Napolitano ristorante in the tri-town area. No frills, no special concoctions to attract millenials. Your choice meat 5 ways, choice of pasta 10 ways and your choice of sauce 20 ways. A few genius combinations that are fire 100% but the proof is in the pudding. Pizza and entrees can't be beat by even the more fancy spots in Central pac. Giuseppina e Pasquale know the business better than the Bx competitors

My family has been coming here close to 30 years. Recently ordered a plain cheese pizza to stay. The pizza came out right away and it was clear that is was old, pre made pie that was re heated. The top was burnt, the bottom was rubbery cold, off colored and the cheese was coagulated where the slices were pre cut. The staff insisted it was made fresh but it was apparent it wasn’t. They made us another pizza (taking double the amount of time than the first one) and it came out looking like a normal fresh pizza. The differences between the 2 pizzas were so clear. The owner came out at the end and said sorry we didn’t like the first pizza it was “too well done for us” and that is was because it was they “were too busy tonight” swearing they didn’t serve us an old re heated pizza. I can’t believe the audacity that they would first serve that to someone and then still claim they didn’t. And mind you the restaurant was basically empty. Only 4 tables including us. Very disappointed will never be returning.

Ordered a large pie at 5: 30 and was told 45 minutes wait, ok. Walked in 45 minutes later and stood there waiting another 15 minutes. 0 chance I am waiting an hour for a cold pizza.

Order from them on off peak nights, they are not equipped to handle a Friday dinner hour rush.

Two stars because the last time I had their pizza it was good but sadly I left with no pizza and went somewhere else.

If they seem overwhelmed, dont bother. Manager on duty should know when to temporarily stop accepting orders to maintain a good product and customer experience.

As longtime customers of Dante’s, we have only accolades to say about this restaurant.
Josephine takes the best care of her patrons, serving delicious, reasonably priced, made to order pizza and dishes.
There’s always a wide selection. We eat in, take out and have gotten catering for parties, always receiving excellent food.

Very nice Italian restaurant. Great service and a large variety of fresh Italian delicacies. The proprietor is always there to oversee quality and service.

The Pizza is amazing, So much so that I even eat the crust! Usually I don’t care for the crust. It has the right amount of salt and taste to the marinara. The interior is very clean and bistro quality as well. Lastly too, the prices are great.

Very good pizza. The crust isn't too thick/doughy and they are generous with the toppings.

Went in, to grab a couple slices, ended up getting a show. Got to watch the owner threaten and try to assault some kids out in the parking lot. Gets one star because watching a fat guy turn more red then marinara is more entertaining then an oxi-clean commercial.

Amazing! My friends and family are always satisfied whenever we order from Dante’s! Best Italian flavor.

Went today to show my wife one of my favorite childhood pizza spots. We were served up some day-old slices (with no discount or anything to boot). And I even asked if they had fresh slices before ordering! Boy how things have changed. Oh well. Very sad: (Go to Cacciatore's Pizza over near Carvel instead.

Our family has been eating here since they opened years ago. Dante's consistently delivers delicious food by attentive staff for a great value. Owners are fabulous people! Try the Chicken Française.you will not be dissapointed.

Went to Dantes Trattoria were I was greeted by a friendly staff the food was excellent service was great and the price was reasonable for a family of 5, can't ask for more then that A+ all the way around. Highly recommend

Very first time visiting this place. The pizza was good. Bought two pies 1. Half cheese and pineapple 2nd pepperoni.

Poor customer service. Fries overcooked and flavor of the day had no toppings mixed in. Not worth the high prices they charge.

Ordered from them 20 mins ago the lady on the phone was very rude I called her and asked him the garlic knots come wit sauce she was very rude and said no it does not only if you request it that’s not how it should be if your running a business
