I love this playground because it has plenty of shade all around it, so your kids will be able to play without getting extra sun. It has a sandbox too. Make sure you bring water with you, cause last time we were there the fountain was broken.

Nice playground but way too many rats! I sat down and heard something in the bushes and when i look their is a rat trying to get on the bench that i was sitting at! Also saw at least four of them

So I'm normally pretty easy to please with places, but the only actual thing I liked about this playground was how close it was from one of the entrances to Central Park.
Being from California and visiting New York for the first time, I was pretty sad to experience this playground like we did.
One of the kids got a whole bunch of sand in my son's eye, and we ran out of water trying to get it out. My husband ran to the water fountain for more (wasn't working) and then walked out to find a bathroom. No where near us at all. Thankfully another witness gave him her water bottle to help. But the fact that it's a playground for kids and there's no bathrooms near by is a pretty big bummer to me. For potty emergencies for the Littles and in cases like this where we needed water for my sons eyes.
The playground itself was decent, but even my kids said they've enjoyed better elsewhere. But the 3 stars is for the non working fountain and the location with the bathroom. Location to enter was good, but the bathroom is more important when you got kids and, well, playground are for kids.

Tons of sand, limited play structures, skews more to the younger kids going on toddlers. It does have an always-on water feature, which is a plus.

Great place to take my students to after the museum to have their lunch and get a little time to rent around.

A nice area for pre-schoolers with a water attraction to keep cool in the summer. Slides and baby swings

Always a great playground after a trip to the American Museum of Natural History! Or if you're just in the neighborhood

We were on a lawn right next to the park, but the park itself is a wonderful playground for young kids!

Central Park kid parks are starting to look a little outdated compared to the new kid parks around the city.

Great location across the street from the Museum of Natural History. Kids playstations in need of repair/replace due to rotting wood beams. Otherwise nice equipment, sandbox, sprinkler, drinking fountain and restrooms nearby at Delacorte Theatre in the park.

This large playground is easily accessible from Columbus Circle. It’s a busy spot for families with kids (up to 12 years) in the summer. There are some carts where you can buy foods and drinks. From a children’s perspective, it’s a very adventurous spot: you can climb on rocks, sit on the swing, play with water, From the perspective of the parent of young children, visiting this playground is dealing with the - probably familiar - double feeling: being happy that your child is having fun and at the same time being exhausted because it’s so tiring to keep an eye on them at a busy playground.

Great playground but the sand is an issue with the younger kids getting them in their eyes and shoes

Cute little playground for kids all ages.

Right in the middle there are several interconnected wooden climbing structures, all built over sand. There are some sprinklers on the north and a few swings on the east. All the sand is nice, but I prefer the soft material newer playgrounds use. Sand always feels less hygienic. Also, I would like to see soft ground on the outside of the very large sanded area. My kid likes to go barefooted on the sand, but then ends up running barefooted on hard asphalt.

There are no restrooms. There is plenty of shade.

It is a nice playground, nothing to special. I would not travel to get here, but I would be happy if this was my neighbourhood's playground.
