Dinosaur Bar-B-Que reviews
14 We ordered the 3 meat plate at the Syracuse location after finding the BBQ to be underwhelming at the Rochester location. Our plate included brisket, pulled pork and a hot sausage. Again, it was disappointing. The brisket texture (we ordered the fatty cut) was soft and mushy with little flavor - definitely no real smoke flavor. The sausage was the size of a hotdog and was just alright. The pulled pork was better with a good pork flavor and a slightly smokey taste. All we're served with a Carolina type sour BBQ sauce. We were not told the sauce could be served on the side. Overall, actually unpleasant.
Our server was unpleasant and inattentive. Her lack of care was reflected in the gratuity, which was small.
After years of eating Texas BBQ all over that state, I can honestly say that Dinosaur BBQ was the worst I have ever eaten. Sadly, nothing local in Rochester NY is any better. Another cuisine neglected in this small city that has a dearth of various good food options.
They’ve got their bbq down to a science at this point. The ribs and mac and cheese were delicious, and the pulled pork was saucy.
Excellent BBQ! Very attentive to wife with allergies. Fantastic, attentive service. Be prepared to pay a few bucks to park in the lot across the street.
A little too loud for eating comfortably. I had expected it to be a little more delicious, with all the hype. The service staff was top notch.
It was very busy when we went, a line outside busy. Service, staff and decor was nice. But the food (Ribs in my case and wings in my gf case) is ok, not bad or good, just okay.
My family and I were on an east coast road trip and had marked Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse as a place for lunch. We were met with smiling faces and excellence service, especially from the Director of operations (Kevin) and our waitress (Allie). The food was awesome, absolutely some of the best BBQ I’ve had, specially the ribs, pulled pork, & Mac n cheese. While paying for our bill, I asked their method for cooking ribs… Allie said hold on and that she’ll get Kevin. Kevin then answered every question we had, showed us done of the smokers, then gave us some sample sauces & rubs. Wow, talk about great service. Upon leaving, I told them that the food was great, but they are what made this experience so special.
Great BBQ and friendly prompt service. Highlights were the brisket and the beans. But you can't go wrong. Everything was tasty.
The Mac N cheese didn’t taste good at all had a clump of cheese to the side like it was sitting for a while.
The fries were old and oily like why even serve those two dishes looking like that to anyone. Sure goes to say waitresses don’t care.
I came here for the first time with my boyfriend to pick up some dinner on Saturday! It was rather busy when we got there, but the girl behind the counter (Alex I believe) was very polite and helpful despite being busy. She helped us decide what to get and the food came out quick and was absolutely amazing! We ended up getting the 2 meat combos with pulled pork, ribs, Mac n cheese and bbq beans. The portions were huge and everything was so delicious! And we will definitely be back when we’re in the area! Great food and outstanding service. 10/10!
The food was amazing! We enjoyed our pulled pork sammichs. The waitress was amazing. I would recommend to anyone.
One of the must-go places in Syracuse (or upstate NY)
My favorite was pork rib. The best ever for me. Side dishes and deserts are good.
Being from KC I'd say this place is okay. I had a 3 meat plate, pulled pork and brisket okay, hot link I could have bought at the grocery, Wango Habernro had no heat. Only game in town.
Definitely the best Bar-B-Que place I have visited in NY. Nothing is like the south, but this place has stellar dishes and a wonderful atmosphere. I've been a few times and wasn't disappointed at all
My only complaint is that when you order online, they always forget something in your order.but boss always corrects
