Doug's Pretty Good Pub reviews
18The best option to eat after your trekking, the attention is excellent, the hamburgers are the best, remember that the term of your meat is important and this cook knows how to do his job, juicy and delicious hamburger. Recommended 100%. Captain Jack and Blue cheese were our choices.
Great little pub with very friendly staff. They let us get a big group in after my friend's gallery show and we just drank and ate bar food while relaxing. The onion rings had a very delicious sauce.
My partner and I came here after a tough hike and it couldn’t have been more perfect for us. Great beer, absolutely delicious burger and veggie burger and the service was so friendly. Can’t wait to come back.
Got turned away by Doug, with a group of 4. Pretty evident they don’t want non-local people in their establishment. This was the second time it happened within a 1-2 years. Save yourself the headache and just go down to the depot by the train for good food and beer.
I had lunch with my friend there today to celebrate my birthday.
I tried the vegetable Burger on pumpernickel rye bread it was delicious. Definitely will recommend it.
Got the fish tacos, fries and chicken tenders - cost close to 50 bucks all in.portions were pathetic and food was below standard.keep away - also Doug wears a dumb hat
Owner turned us and multiple other groups away but there was plenty of seating in there. Like others have said, if you’re not a local, don’t even try.
I was there this afternoon for lunch and had the most amazing burger ever. The onion rings were delicious as was the margarita. Rob was also an amazing waiter/ bartender and was a pleasure to talk to. Thanks for the wonderful food and service.
Came here last weekend on a fall foliage cruise with my friend. We sat at the bar and Rob took great care of us despite the place being as busy as it was. The burger I had was one of the best I've ever had in my life, and I've had burgers in a lot of places. Wish there were more than 5 stars to give this place.
Comfortable bar and grill right in the middle of Cold Spring NY. Bartender made a perfect cosmo and the kitchen made a perfect burger! Doug's is actually a really good bar and definitely worth a stop when in the area
Really great pub, hard to find these days!
Doug is a good personable guy who works the tables right along with the staff. Top notch cheeseburger and fresh french fries. Onion rings were excellent!
We were turned away just because we came from a local beer festival. We were all sober, a calm and tamed group but for some reason Doug does not take kind to outsiders. If you are from out of town, spend your money elsewhere to a business that cares and isn’t selective of its clientele.
We went to Doug’s with a group of friends, nine in total, only four actually ever made it inside. We were stopped at the door by Doug, who hates money and didn’t want to let us in. Our good friend Doug, from Nevada was so excited to try the local cuisine. Sadly, Doug from Nevada never got his food, Doug the owner was rude and kicked us out for being too awesome. Apparently Doug the Bar Owner is a local legend and the consensus is he needs medication.
Wish we had had time to try the burgers! Uptown Classic Lager was fabulous - want to order it again.
Pretty Good review for a pretty good pub
A mix of locals and NYC escapists, the place is warmly filled with laughter and chatter.
It's a burger place, a pretty good one, and in my case the black bean burger (order it with jalapenos, the sauce it comes with is good, but not spicy).
There's a decent drink selection, but the best thing you can have is a conversation. With those you already know at the back or those you might want to meet at the front.
Take your time. Don't rush. Listen in on conversations (it will happen, don't be embarrassed) and - politely - try to mingle in. Or don't. Just sip on your drink at the corner, you troll (but don't be creepy).
A pretty good place, overall
Doug turned us away just because we were wearing the wrist bands from the local beer festival. I had high hopes for this place, to enjoy a nice local establishment but the owner showed his true colors that they are not friendly to people outside of town. If you are not a local, turn away.
“Voted best burger in town by some guy who likes burgers “: D the restaurant was full of boards with funny and witty one liners including their menu! Ordered the black bean burger, buffalo wings and fish tacos. Everything was delicious and the hosts were warm and friendly!
