Dr. Jill C. Sisselman, DO, Massapequa NY

Today was the first time in my life that I was truly shocked by a medical professional’s behavior, or lack thereof.
Although this is the first time I’ve ever had this experience with this office, it is now sadly my last experience here. After being seen by Urgent Care yesterday - since I didn’t think I’d be able to get into this office same day - and having the UC doctor tell me he suspected potentially a minor respiratory infection and given a z-pack at 6 months pregnant, I wanted at the very least to just get a second opinion from my primary’s office if I could before taking anything being that I’m 6 months pregnant (my OB-GYN agreed that if I wanted to come see my primary just to rule out anything else that it would be totally fine to do).
Well - the second this NP-C came into the room, she berated me for wasting time and coming after I already went to urgent care and that they’re perfectly capable of treating me, that she’s not sure what she’s going to tell me that’s different, and that she’s not sure why I came to the office. I informed her that because I’m pregnant I wanted her opinion since urgent care isn’t my primary so I’d feel more comfortable having her take a listen to my lungs since they didn’t do any x rays. She then raised her voice and exclaimed: “YEAH BECAUSE YOU'RE PREGNANT OF COURSE THAT’S WHY THEY DID NOT DO IT. DID YOU REALLY WANT ONE!? ” She proceeded for another minute or two on this tangent of hers essentially telling me I’m wasting time and she has no idea why I would be at her office now or why I would not have first come to the office before urgent care (though I explained I wasn’t sure whether I’d be able to get in right away so out of caution to rule out anything else I just went there.)

I calmly said that I did not but that’s why I wanted another opinion before I potentially take any antibiotics. She rolled her eyes, took my blood pressure, and replied: “Well your blood pressure is excellent despite the fact that I’m annoyed. ”

After finishing her physical exam, she had asked if it was my first pregnancy, to which I said it was my fourth. She asked if I had any living children, and I responded that I did not, and that after having a stillborn child last year, this pregnancy was high risk so that is why I’m more cautious and wanted more than one opinion here. Only then did she apologize and make up an excuse as to why she behaved in the way she did; which was “I just want you to not waste your time and trust in the medical provider that treats you. ” Complete you know what excuse. Regardless, even if none of my sad history was true, that behavior was so atrocious and ridiculous that I was so taken aback the entire rest of the day for having been treated and scolded like a 16 year old high school child. Very upsetting to say the least.

Dr Sisselman was very thorough and patient. She made me feel very comfortable. To make it even better, I had to wait only a few minutes before being seen. Staff is very helpful.

I have been going to the Dr. Sisselman for many years. I am very satisfied with the professionalism of their entire staff. I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a primary doctor.

I have always had a good experience in dealing with the office personnel, the nurses and with Dr. Jill Sisselman. She is concerned, knowledgeable and very professional.

Nasty staff girls never smile. Very rude and top off all that I was told they can't treat me something that showed on my test I need to go to another doctor mean while it was a simple thing. Don't waste your time find an office where they care about patients.

Excellent caring doctor. Always reviews total picture of what’s going on with your health. Minimal wait time
