Dr. Joseph I. Stein, MD - Orthopedist Brooklyn NY

I just want to add my voice to the myriad of other reviewers who complained about rude receptionists at this office. I called into the office and the receptionist was rude and unresponsive and refused to answer basic questions. Very unprofessional.

I don't know anything about the doctor himself, who might be great, but his staff is not.

I have used Dr Stein for a while and have recommended him often. He is an incredible doctor, and has always been the best orthopedist around. However, after calling in for an appointment, his secretary didn’t even wait for a response before slamming down the phone aggressively. If you work in healthcare, you are required to explain yourself and reasoning behind why you can’t take a patient before rudely slamming the phone down. I will be understanding, knowing that it has been a long day, but don’t expect patients to give your office raving reviews when they are mistreated.

Saw dr stein 2 visits for bursitis. From the moment I called for appt was seen next day. Waited 15 minutes to be seen. A real angel, mensch, thorough, attention to detail and let's me talk not only what he thinks. Treated me like a real mensch. Ordered mri for clearance from insurance today within 3 hours I had clearance set up. I mean treated me like his own individual child. Working in medical field myself, I can count on my fingers who really cares, sensitive, attention to detail and has the patients medical priorities top gunned from a to z.

Only rated this facility a 1 star because we couldn't go any lower. I was REFERRED to this physician for imaging due to a leg pain diagnosed as sciatica that got worst after doing physical therapy for 2 monrhs. I called to make an appointment and within seconds of my sentence, I was rudely advised "we don't treat that here, feel better" and then hung up. My wife then called and spoke to the same medical receptionist and she was even ruder and once she was asked for her name, she simply hung up. How disgusting is a facility that's suppose to help people, people that are REFERRED to your place, and they're turned away in such a rude manner. And by reading the previous reviews, nothing is being done by the person who employs her as if they like the fact that she's giving such rude assistance to people. If you choose to serve a purpose in this world to help heal, DO SO. Or simply shut down.

Dr Stein is the best! He is professional and we have used him many times over the years. He is always my first choice and right now I haven’t used him in a while but I was asked for a recommendation for an orthopedist so I sent his contact info and said I will write a review that he truly deserves. Basically when you are with Dr Stein you are in good hands.

The office staff was super nice and friendly. The doctor was so knowledgeable and showed compassion to my little girl. He made us feel at ease and gave us the correct diagnosis. I highly recommended this Dr. Stein.

I feel discriminated against for who knows what. I only called to ask if the doctor takes my insurance, to which the lady in the front made me wait several minutes to ask. Instead of answering me, she came back and asked what the issue was, I told her I had pain in my upper leg region. She promptly told me that the doctor does not treat that part of the body and hung up. I was just left bewildered, I am sure that I called into a orthopedics office.

The front desk staff is very very rude. As the poster below wrote, nasty. Just hangs up. Stay away.

Dr. Stein, Very knowledgeable! He went out of his way in attempting to figure out why I have pain in hand, neck and shoulder, offered me a Cortizone shot to relieve the pain. He also gave me advice on who to seek out for additional possible relief and very aware about Lyme epidemic and it's effect, that other doctors are usually quick to dismiss.

He has a heart!
