Duane Reade reviews
19The pharmacist decided to overwrite my doctor's prescription based on his personal opinion. I told him how innapropiate and life-threatening his actions were and finally provided the right prescription.this seems to be a pattern in this pharmacy.the two managers were complicit.
The pharmacy is horrifying. I called to check on a prescription that is supposed to be auto refilled and they can’t find it, turns out they were looking at a completely different patients profile. After that was cleared and they finally found mine, they were able to refill it. But when I asked why it wasn’t auto refilled the pharmacist simply said I don’t know why. Giving people the wrong medication and the information out so readily is truly scary.
Prepare to wait 30+ minutes for a script. They will tell you ten but there were multiple people waiting much longer including myself. Really poor service
Prices at this location are the absolute highest.maybe they bet customers won’t notice. I found that price charged at register was even higher than price shown on shelf.
This is a follow up to Len Yeh’s comment about the speed of the pharmacy. The problem isn’t with the “speed “at which they dispense drugs, but rather with their customer service. It takes over an hour on average just to get somebody on the phone down there. When you show up in person, they are often rude or hostile. And they show no interest whatsoever in accommodating individual medical needs. For example, I went in at 10 AM To pick up a desperately needed antibiotic prescription. I was told it would be ready “ in the late afternoon. ” I explained that I couldn’t wait that long and would need a hospital by late afternoon. Their response? “You should go to the ER. ”
Still feelings Discriminating (stereotype) as always walking in store as customer purchase a $25 gift card only! Keep on asking at front counter about my id & bank card as well (am I only one person being stereotype) 3: 46pm 5/24/2019
I typically don't like Duane Reade because I never find what I'm looking for but, and have always found the environment to be lackluster, that was NOT the case with this particular location, though. I've been living in Williamsburg for a little over four years now, and have never gone until yesterday just to check the make up aisle. From across the street, it looks like it's going to be super dull and quite frankly like the smallest store ever until. You. Go. Downstairs. I found there to be a lot of make up brands that I don't usually see in say, Rite Aid. Or CVS and everything was STOCKED. That was the biggest shocker of the night. They carry things like Coco & Eve hair masque, Sand & Sky facial mask, PUR Cosmetics, Laura Mercier. And so much more! The Coco & Eve mask is something that has been advertised on the instagram platform for the past YEAR, I'd say and not once have I ever seen it anywhere but here,
at this very location, last night. Not even at the famous "Ulta Beauty" which, is commonly known for their large selection of brands. My point: If you happen to be in the area, stop by and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed!
*Best part? - any place can carry make up but when it's UPDATED with new releases, that's when it's most shocking. *
I'm giving this Duane Reade 5 stars to help offset all the unfair, bad reviews by people who don't know how pharmacies and pharmacists work (and why they may seem slow). There's a lot that goes on behind the scenes for a pharmacist to make sure they don't give you things that might kill you.
A more realistic review of this Duane Reade would be 3–4 stars. It's a bit pricey, but it's convenient and 24 hours, so it's dependable for that last minute thing you have to buy. It's also a FedEx pick up spot.
Went in to purchase a mouth wash that I saw on line for $6.29. Came in to buy it I figured it would be the same I ended up paying $8.15. I asked them to honor it because Walgreens is affiliated with Duane Reade & CVS they said no they wouldn’t be doing that that internet price and in store prices are different. That’s really weird.since when stores don’t honor prices. Staff doesn’t seem to have knowledge of prices. As they should didn’t like my time there.
Me and my mom waited an hour for them to "bottle her medicine. " It was literally just some packaged pills in a small box. Some of the people working at the pharmacy are complete airheads.
The pharmacy is incredibly slow and customer service has much to be desired. Really needs a design change to separate out customers who are picking up prescriptions from those who are just buying non-prescription items. There must be a better way!
They refused to sell me Advil because I did not have my I. D.
I am well above the legal age to purchase Advil, I do not look like I'm under the legal age and I also appear to show very visible signs of having the current flu strain.
This is the NY law regarding the Retail Sale of DXM to Persons Under the Age of 18. It can be found at ny.gov
"Under the new law (S. 696-B / A. 933-B), all retail establishments selling DXM will be required to request proof of age unless the customer appears to be more than 25 years of age. "
The biggest problem is the line is often long with only one cashier. The cashier never calls for backup yet there are multiple employees all over the store doing other things. You don't need things on the shelf to sell if you have no one to sell them to your customers. The last two days I just left my items and went somewhere else. Usually anything I want is cheaper a block away at the food town anyway.
I remember one of my first jobs was at a rite aid pharmacy. And one thing I remember about working at a pharmacy was when we wanted to be discrete about communicating to other staff that we think someone is stealing announce on the radio " customer service on isle (insert isle where someone is stealing) " So last week I wentto go grab some makeup after work. I dont know if it was cause its 3am on a Thursday or cause something about my permanent deep dark tan suggested that I was clearly there to steal $13 concealer.that morning.but I heard the announcement right in the cosmetics isle. So I bought my $13 concealer and left. Please make sure you guys have a good reason to consider someone might be stealing.
Very friendly costumer Service (I visited after 1 am) pricing on most seemed to be a little high, but I found some real good prices too.
This place is a nightmare. The speed of assistance (or lack thereof), is utterly mind blowing. Whether there are 2 people in line or 20, you are stuck there for a short and miserable eternity. Watching the staff move (or slowly shuffle around) is excruciating, it is like they are trying to ruin your day. I stopped driving after my third parking tix after yet again underestimating the uselessness of this facility. I have used a dozen DR Rxs and never experienced the ineptness consistently displayed at this location. I blame myself for continuing to subject myself to this torture, but it is the closest one. In or out of the store (I once brushed my teeth, showered, got dressed and did my hair and makeup before being taken off hold when I called), avoid this place if time is of the essence for you. This is NY, the fastest moving city in this country. People have things to do and places to be! Hey staff, read this and wake up! You are failing miserably!
The pharmacy here is much better than other chain pharmacies in this area. There usually isn't a long wait and they're helpful and polite. I go out of my way to visit this pharmacy.
Never in my life have I seen a pharmacy operate at such a slow speed. 20 minute lines and the staff literally dragging feet walking to get orders.
We came in to get some regular necessities for our week long stay in nyc (ie: purell, beer, water, etc.) and realized that everything was ridiculously overpriced.instead we walked a few blocks over to CVS where prices were way more reasonable. CVS 12.99 = 12 PACK beer / DR 12.99 = 6-PACK: (
