I’ve had such a great experience so far at this Equinox location. The staff and other members are very friendly. Nay and Joseph were especially helpful getting me set up with everything I needed =)

Friendly and attentive staff, relatively spacious floor (for a Manhattan Equinox), great cycling and Pilates studios. Probably the best of the Midtown EQs. Spacious locker room by any standard.

What prevents me from giving Bryant Park five stars is 1) it’s below ground, so no natural light—but good use of plants and warm lighting allows you forget that, and 2) the juice bar is a Juice Press (which has been squeezing out better juice/food options at older EQs) and not a very good even by JP standards. All they have is low protein ready-made

I decided to try a different Equinox tonight as I wanted to walk around a bit rather than go to the location near my apartment. I walked into the gym at 9: 04, they close at 10 on Fridays, and as soon as I step in the door the front desk employee rudely exclaims to me “We’re closed. We closed early tonight. ” With absolutely no reason for why they are closing an hour early or even apology for the inconvenience. Simply saying “sorry” before her very curt statement of we’re closed would have made the whole situation a lot better. I will not be back to this location.

I was an Equinox member for over five years. I've used ~20 different clubs all over the city at different points. I'm leaving my review at the Bryant Park location because it's the one I used the most in the recent past, but this review applies to Equinox overall.

First, specifics about the club:

1) It's in the basement, so if you want views / natural light while you're working out, this isn't the club for you

2) The facilities are nice and modern compared to many Equinox branches, though not as fresh as some of the newest locations (Dumbo). Still, it was always one of my favorite clubs to work out in.

3) It is a nightmare at peak hours, at least in the ladies locker rooms - think long lines for showers and hair dryers. After 9am, or if you can sneak your lunch workout in a little early (or late, just avoiding the showers right around 1pm) you're better off.

The reason for my low star review is how disappointed I am in Equinox's cancellation policy. As someone who was a member for over five years, I should easily be able to cancel my membership; I've given this place enough money. Instead, when I went to cancel I was told cancellations don't become effective for 45 days, information that is not available on their website or in their FAQs. (I also then found out I could have cancelled in the app / over the phone, even though everything on the website says you have to cancel in person.) I have moved out of the city and have not used the gym since moving because I can't fit it in around my commute. All Equinox is doing is nickel and diming me at the tail end of my membership, which feels like a terrible way to treat a loyal customer. I have a sour taste in my mouth over what should have been an overall positive experience.

Amazing classes with top notch instructors. All the employees are great, front desk is always so kind and accommodating, the manager Nick is the best and always makes himself available for questions/concerns. Such a great break to come down and unwind in the middle of your day. Well worth it!

This location is always too crowded. 7am on a Tuesday and not a SINGLE locker available in the men’s locker room? ! Done even trying to come here.

Expensive but so good for me! Like this gym a lot. Showers clean most of the time. Steam room great. A lot of deferent classes, I wish there is something more boxing options. Equipment always there, no like the others gym that you have to look for parts because someone misplace it. Personal training very expensive but fun & they teach you a lot.
I can recommend.

Closed on Sundays? That doesn't make any sense. This is the first time I tried using my all-access pass and extremely disappointed and confused.

Great yoga class. I really liked how the teacher encouraged people to get the toxins out. I love the eucalyptus towels. It's always a great shower with nice soaps and shampoos. Nice facility and employees.

Not the best equinox location in New York. They can work a little harder in a maintenance department

I think I'm there peak times, and it's super crowded. Like you will need to wait for free weights crowded. It's super convenient for those Friday's when one's skipping town for the weekends, but I would not make this my primary gym. Also music is way too loud.

This gym is far too crowded. It's impossible to have a decent work-out unless you go at lunch-times (but even then it can be very busy). The membership fee is far too high for what you get. My advice - shop around for nearby alternatives (e.g. NY Sports Club etc).
