American Restaurant Esme reviews
20Had to sit at the bar so can’t say how the backyard really is but from a quick peak it was cute and the inside was a ~trendy~ atmosphere. The food was great! And so we’re the drinks. I’d definitely recommend for brunch!
Shared the crispy squash blossoms, porcini cascatelli, and chicken with two others — blossoms were great, cascatelli was delicious, chicken was saltier than expected. Overall a great meal!
Really loved brunch here! The food was great and the service was good. Our plates took long so they gave us a complementary plate! Really appreciated it.
Had a wonderful dining experience here from start to finish. Our server, Andrew, was extremely kind and knowledgeable; answering all of our questions and even making a great rec for the octopus! Loved the food, loved the atmosphere, loved the service.
Great spot in green point with an amazing backyard: super nice in spring weather.
Staff is very friendly, drinks are good. Food is good (not amazing if you go with the classic, but still good) but i saw some French toasts that looked delicious. Variety of options is also nice.
Recommended for brunch!
Stylish but practical. Well made and smart place. Wish they had a couple of more locations in the city. Brunch tends to be rock solid and evening makes for good lighting.
Really nice decor. I’d give their brunch 3 stars and their dinner 2 stars. Last time I was there for dinner, which was a while back, I got their chicken and fingerling potatoes. They chicken was mediocre and the fingerling potatoes were totally charred.
The food was good and came out quickly, but nothing spectacular and a bit overpriced. The environment was overall very loud due to high music volume and acoustics of the space. I would go again, but only if convenient.
Crispy Brussel sprouts done right. Mushroom risotto was delicious and the perfect comfort food on a cold night. Staff was accommodating and friendly. My date was vegan and they had no issue helping her navigate the menu.
We are very fond of Esme - absolutely fantastic pancakes (which are difficult to find in Brooklyn), and delicious cocktails. The French toast is also scrumptious. We have also been for dinner, which was great, too. Honestly the issue is that the music is so loud, almost an auditory overload. It does make it difficult to have any conversation that doesn't mostly involve nodding. As a species, we are loud when in a loud place, so a gentle suggestion would be to take the volume down.
Neighborhood staple. I love having brunch here. The atmosphere is friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. From sweet (french toast with berries) to savory (grits topped with chorizo and eggs overeasy) you can't go wrong here.
My husband was looking for a place to celebrate our 1st anniversary (pre pandemic), and he thought this restaurant would be sweet since it shares our daughter's name. What a pleasant surprise. We loved the ambience, the food was great, the staff were super friendly, and the crowd was diverse. We finally got a chance to go back again "post" pandemic for our fourth anniversary in 2023, and it was even better. I am sure they've managed to last the test of time because the vibe and food is consistently great! Can't wait to go back!
I found out about this place from the chef who helped develop its menu, Paul Myers. He now runs an amazing pizzeria upstate in Binghamton.
Anyway, I went here with a friend for brunch and made good choices from the menu. (Don't look at the menu pics on maps, the menu has changed; look at the website.) We each got an order of eggs Benedict, then we shared one order of the ricotta toast. The eggs Benedict each came with a side so we shared home fries and mixed greens. We both got a Heart of Darkness drink. I'm definitely going to steal the idea of Tajín-rimmed glasses.
What else could I say? Food was perfect, drinks were perfect, service was great (despite the waiter having the chutzpah to wear a Patriots hat in Brooklyn!). Atmosphere is bougie (which you should expect from Greenpoint post-2010s) but not at all pretentious. With tax and tip it was just under $100 for the two of us; it would have been markedly less without the drinks. With my income it's not something to do every week but a great place for once-in-a-while meetups.
My wife was upset at the apt Brocker but after her breakfast she was back to being angry only at me. The Salmon toast was absolutely amazing, and I don't say Tagg lightly. The tea was on point and really a lot of care in every action. Well done! There's hope.
Great lunch today. Good attention to detail. Coffee delicious (could be hotter). Would recommend oiling the hinges on the bathroom door. Thanks!
The drinks were excellent— perfectly balanced and with unique flavor profiles. Service was professional and unobtrusive. The food was decent, but not exceptional. The kale salad lacked seasoning & the burger was good, but there are better to be had elsewhere. The decor and vibe of the restaurant is very clean, streamlined, and inviting, and despite tables being close together, they are organized to maximize privacy.
I visited this place for brunch on a rainy Saturday morning. I ordered the eggs benedict and an espresso. The meal came quickly and was very good. There was a lot of food. In general this place had a fine upscale atmosphere.
Cute neighborhood restaurant with solid lunch options. It's cozy in here but doesn't get too crowded. I got the turkey sandwich with a side of mixed greens, which was tasty and not too heavy. A lot of people were getting the fried chicken sandwich or the burger, which I'll need to try next time
Loved having brunch as Esme! The service is outstanding and the food was fantastic. We got the fried chicken sandwich and the stone ground grits (our server recommended adding fried chicken, which was amazing). We were able to get a table pretty quickly without a reservation but it might be helpful to make one since it was pretty busy!
What an amazing french toast! French fries were also perfect. Really sweet staff. I do recommend this spot for a perfect Sunday brunch in greenpoint
