Essex Market reviews
16I've visited this market once every season and everytime I come back there's always something new coming in. There's always a vendor to suite your taste and preferences. Highly recommend visiting and the vibe is great, day or night.
Great place to shop. This place is filled with small but incredible cafés, eateries, and shops. You can get anything from groceries to coffee to lunch here. Amazing place!
Lots of good food. We had some of the best Pizza we've had in New York while there. The crust was perfectly crispy and tasty cheese and toppings. There are also some small grocery stores there. The only bad thing is they need more seating.
A nice place with a wide variety of establishments from different cultures, very interesting
I read the reviews about this place and I expected more from the places I went to. The pizza was okay. It's nice to sit on the second floor and watch people below in the market. I watched the pizza guy pet a dog, wipe his hands on a towel and then touch a bunch of pizza. The empanadas were good but dry, you really need to dip them in the sauce. The bacon egg and cheese was okay but the eggs were pre mixed so you could only get scrambled. The chai from the coffee and tea place was better than the Porto Rico coffee place. The small grocery stores were well stocked with a variety of foods and snacks. I would like to go back and try some more foods from different places. It would be very hard to eat at all of them in one visit.
Very lively and diverse place with a lot of different choices of food. Mexican, Peruvian, East-Europe, Italian, Moroccan, Turkish, fresh seafood, bakeries, etc. Something for everyone and nicely spacious and not too crowded.
Over charged at flower shop. I felt really deceived. I was told one price all along. Next thing you know, minutes later, the sales person said they had to call the manager to see about the price, again just to make sure. All of a sudden it became $20 more. I left feeling robbed. Hope you're happy scamming me. I guess it was worth being that I probably was 1 of 3 customers you had all day. Never again.
This is a super cool two level food hall and market on the Lower East Side. This is one of the better food halls in Manhattan. My favorite restaurant was the place downstairs serving Ukrainian and Eastern European dishes like Paprika Chicken and Goulash. I want to go back and try other places as well.
It's definitely worth a visit. You'll find everything you need under one roof. There are a lot of unique food choices from all over the world.
Check it out when you are in the area!
Nice place to go to pick up some eats and have some conversation. Huge selection of restaurants in the door, plus if you need to pick up your ingredients for sofrito, you can get it here. It's just one of those hidden gems of nyc. Great if the weather is dreary or too muggy. Very vibrant. Plus you can catch a movie at the theater next door.
The market was very nice. It was lively and bustling with noise and people. There are many small businesses in the market as well as food places. I have to come back and try some more food. One issue is just with crowdedness during the lunchtime rush, people are pushing carts around and some people are standing around but that's understandable but just a note if you want to look around, best not to go during lunch time.
This was a cool place I walked a very long time from upper East side down there but I enjoyed it
Great selection food and grocery products in the market! Place was so chill and cozy. Could escape from the outside heat and enjoy the foods and drinks here for hours.
We found it by chance, a storm caught us and we went to take refuge there, I don't understand how this gem in the city is not promoted. We loved it. Very good atmosphere and food stalls, first class. Good service, reasonable prices. I recommend it.
This is a nice place to shop groceries and to grab a bite to eat. The products of numerous local merchants are featured at this place.
