Excel Academy NY reviews
7Pragmatic and effective. In addition to helping my son get a 5 on the AP World last April with their 'intensive spring break' course, they answered all of my questions straight forward and accurately, giving me sensable suggestions on helping my son plan out his junior and senior year. My son's feedback also attests to the effectiveness of the courses, and he requested today for me to sign him up for the intensive AP U. S next April
Not happy - Very unprofessional and unethical business. The lady who called me and claimed to be the owner (Joy) was very rude and unprofessional. The whole issue was because she was charging me $40 extra for books for my 2 kids and that was not communicated earlier. I paid the whole tuition and towards the end of the session she calls and says I need to pay for the books. I already have the books at home from my previous child and didn't need multiple copies. She yelled at me saying just pay the $40 and hung up on me saying she is busy and has no time to talk to me. I told her it's not about the $40 but it's so unethical to sneak in extra charges and that she has the audacity to scream at me about it. She needs to learn manners! I paid $40 and good luck to her! Seems like a money hungry owner. My kids are never going back to this place again. She just lost business from me and! They increase their tuition every year. And now sneak in book charges and demand it so unprofessionally! To run any business, the number one rule is to be professional and have some ethics! I'm disgusted by her behavior.
For those who wants an honest review of Excel, I have an honest one for you as a student who has been with the program for 5 years since 8th grade. First of all, I have to admit that without the support of Michael and Joy, I would not have been able to get into Stanford University.
As a recent college graduate reflecting on my journey, I’m writing this review to share how Excel has been an invaluable resource for me. Over the years, Excel has aided me during my most challenging years acclimating to the U. S, been a reliable resource both academically and personally during high school, and a continued resource for advice even during college.
However, that being said, Excel is really ideal for kids who want to learn. It is a bi-directional learning environment. If parents are simply forcing unmotivated kids to go to tutoring, they will not get the full benefit. It’s honestly shocking seeing some of these negative reviews given the strong reputation in the community.
To students- take it from someone who has really been with the program - learning centers in general are not miracle workers. You need to put in the work. The reputable ones like Excel will go the extra mile and provide support, guidance and mentorship. It also goes without saying that they source the best teachers available in the area. I really wouldn’t be where I am today without their help, and I owe the office staff and the many teachers so much gratitude for their support over the years.
I went to this school in the summer for SAT prep, and I have no improvement in my SAT scores, teachers gave us a bunch of the questions then go over, they don’t teach how to use the right technique to reading the SAT passage. So I changed to another preschool that helps me. Neofuture if u r wondering.
I did not like the way the classrooms and the chairs were put together so closely.
My kids have been with Excel for many years, I have seen significant improvements on their academic works throughout the years. My kids also well benefited with the advices that Joy and Michael provide to achieve their goals.
I’ve been a student at Excel Academy for 7 years now and I have learned a lot from this place. When I first started learning here in first grade I barley knew any English and I was below average in all my classes. I rarely got any 90s and 100s. Now after the help of many of the teachers I have been able to get my grades to an A+. Though many students have trouble improving, I have learned, throughout my years that the key to success is to actually work hard and do homework. If you are sleeping during class, going on your phone, and not doing homework, you definitely won’t improve, however it works the other way too. As long as you try, I guarantee your grades will skyrocket. I have recommended many of my friends to this place too, and they have all seen positive results.
