Farm Country Kitchen, Riverhead NY

I would never go to this place again. 5 people and not one person liked the food. The steak was horrible over cooked and came out ice cold. It was like eating rubber. Brought it home for the dog. They did not cook the vegetables. I’m not talking a little crispy. They were raw. The desert was good, but with the prices at this place, it was no where near acceptable. There is about 5 parking spots when you finally find the place. The young boy that clears the table was the only friendly person in the place. Never again waste of money.

I drove for an hour to get to this place because the excellent reviews just to be beyond disappointed, food was horrible and cold the taste was really bad and they don't have enough waitress to help the only one available was visible stress out incapable to give you a smile.

MUST READ! Ok so we wanted to try this restaurant after we saw it advertised on news 12. We had a reservation and had waited 2 hrs. Because apparently the reservation doesn't make a difference.
So if you have a 7pm reservation get ready to wait 2 hrs for a table. It was myself my husband and our 2 kids. We decided to wait and have drinks at the bar. 2 very small martinis cost $39.11. The two hour wait time we had 3 martinis each.
FINALLY 9.30pm we got our table and at that point it was feeding time for the bugs. Uncomfortable to eat while bugs are biting you. They do offer bug spray.
Our server was horrible rude and very disrespectful. If it wasn't for the helper RYAN we would have left. Ryan is excellent and quite a lovely asset to any buisness. The owner of the restaurant was nice. He greeted us with a warm smile.
Food was horrible. Asked for risotto it was served cold. The waitress wanted me to place all orders without us not even getting 2 min to read the menu. WORST PART CAME HOME WITH FOOD POISONING.
I have dined at some of the most amazing restaurant never ever had such a nasty server as she was to us. Never again!
Beautiful location and because of Ryan we give it 1 star. Spent over 600 dollars and I was better off with drive thru.

The food was okay, I was expecting a little better with some of the great reviews I’ve heard.

The espresso martini’s we ordered were terrible, way too light (they put too much baileys)

If you’re not a regular, never go here. Not only will you have to wait close to an hour after your reservation, but the manager with the mustache who stands at the front of house is one of the rudest service people I’ve ever met. I saw him consistently speak to customers like they were doing something wrong (except for attractive women and regulars). However, the most egregious mistake he made was when my order came and had nuts, which I’m deathly allergic to. When I tried to ask him if nuts were supposed to be on the dish he replied “Well if you looked at the menu…” with his arms open as if to ask why I was dumb enough to do that. To make sure I hadn’t made a mistake, I checked the menu and the Crescent Duck does NOT say it has nuts on the menu. On top of all of this, the food was dry and tasteless and one of the pieces of duck was purple. The only redeeming quality was our waitress, who was much kinder, but I was really just disgusted by the manager.

We ordered their Dinner for Four Menu (pick 3 entrees + salad). Staff was very helpful and patient with our questions. I can't really comment on the establishment since it was a takeout experience. Overall, you can tell they have many regulars. It's a very home-y experience, with a backyard feel. Food was great. The hanger steak was well marinated. Overall, the dishes has so much flavor. The only thing I would recommend is ordering extra - as the dinner for four menu is not enough for 4 people. Definitely order some extra sides and an additional entree. They have additional parking at corner, but that lot was already full during the dinner rush.

Talk about a hole in the wall. First of all, I drove past this place three times, even though the GPS said I had arrived. It's looks like nothing but a house, tucked behind tall bushes. You can't even tell that it's a restaurant. Second, the employees act superior to Black people. As soon as I walked in one of them took one look at me and assumed that I was a Doordash deliverer. I couldn't possibly have wanted a table, right? If you're looking for confusion and prejudice, then this is your place. If you'd like an obvious restaurant where all are welcome, go someplace else.

The food is good. Linguine and mushrooms and local fish. The dessert - creme brulee cheesecake unusual and delish with fresh cream. The setting is lovely. The wait staff excellent. Why the 3 stars? The maitre d was completely disorganized. We booked a 630 and got sat down by 830. The only reaspn we're still not waiting is I followed up multiple times. Multiple people told us similar stories and some were palpably angry. It's a shame as with a better manager, one who isn't sabotaging a lovely place, this place would be 5 stars. Go if you have lots of patience otherwise I don't recommend it. We got a perfunctory apology from the host and that was it. Do better.

Really used to like this place, made a reservation; they made me wait an hour then gave me the worst table in the house. Front of the house made it clear they didn’t care that I actually had made a reservation. I would have rejected the table if it weren’t so late already and the baby ready to combust. The fish was very overcooked and dry. The drinks were so watered down that my peach tea could have been any flavor. The blueberry truffle sauce for my lamb had no truffle and could have come straight out of a jam jar.

Nobody here under 45 except ourselves…save yourself the trouble and find the other many places down the street with a river view and good food.

Nice ambiance food was varied so hard to rate. Skirt steak was overcooked (to wrong temp) and risotto was mush. There was big rubber band in rigatoni, despite the rubber band rigatoni was very very good. Cocktails were also good. For price point I would expect more attention to detail.

Food was delicious but the service was horrible. My friend cut herself on the wooden chair, and we asked for a bandaid because she was bleeding. They didnt have any more, and the waiter never even gave her a new chair when we had to ask for one. You would think they would have at least given her a free drink for the cut. Nada!

My first impression was not very good as it is hidden, old and dirty with extremely wobbly tables. Plus, I don't get the attraction to a dirty river in the center of Riverhead. (Some may call all this rustic. I call it old and dirty). However, some of the food was good enough (but rather expensive for the quality) that I thought we'd try again while out in Riverhead.
Unfortunately this visit was terrible with respect to the customer service un-skills of someone who called himself "management". Too much happened to elaborate on but this man who I later found out was the owner was extremely rude and did not care who he offended because, as he put it, he's "successful". After reading some of the other 1 star reviews, he is referred to as a "middle aged man with dark hair", "the my pillow guy's brother" and "his rudeness". All these reviews are true!
I respect myself too much to be treated badly, especially while spending my hard-earned money. I was in customer service for years and would have been fired immediately if I spoke to anyone the way he spoke to me, even as I kept my calm. I was appalled and will never return to this dump.

The place is beautiful, trying to get a seat outside facing the water and it makes a great day out. My friends and I went out as five and the total came out to slightly above 100 dollars. Their food was also flavored very well for me. The turkey club and the angus burger was def the spotlight for us. Our servers although a bit slow sometimes we’re very nice and accommodating. Overall great place and we will be back!

Absolutely love love love the food, the ambience of this setting, and the vibe- its one od my favorite places to eat, and or order from- with such a selection the menu most definitely beyond satisfys all the sensible desires an evening or late lunch should!

We were visiting the area May 2022 from Cape Cod for a wedding in Westhampton. Looking for lunch before getting ready for the evening wedding we found Farm Country Kitchen. Everything top notch…food, service and scenery. Highly recommended! Thanks!

Drove from West Islip to the tulip farm in Manorville. Group of friends decided on this restaurant. Service and food was very good. Prices were reasonable. Outside was nice too but too cold today to sit out. A huge turn off for me was the floor looked like there was a pile of vomit where we sat and also at the same area the table cloth had the same color stain. Whatever it was it should have been cleaned properly. Huge huge turn off.
