I go to this place because is closer than CTown now in the virus crisis.
Some stuff has higher price but it is convenience to me which is that count.

You can't spell Food Universe without FU. It is not uncommon to find moldy vegetables, moldy bread, and rotten meat. On several occasions I have gone back to return rotten food and they don't care. They never apologize and customers are treated as an inconvenience

"MEAT IS NOT FRESH" I almost puke when I was preparing to cook. "BE CAREFUL" there was a "CASHIER" and her name is Ashley. She was super rude to us. When we were asking her where the cart was.she was snappy and eyes rolling at us etc. "BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE"

Extremely rude cashier Ashley spoke to us like we were dirt. Even when we complained to the manager about it in front of her she remained arrogant and dismissive. She must be related to the owners or else she’d be fired. Not a bad selection of groceries, albeit overpriced. The meat we bought was not fresh and we threw it away when we opened it up at home. The manager tried his best to be friendly, but he clearly has no control over his employees.

This place is very sloopy. They sell old food produce is not fresh many times i purchase dairy items they were old. Meat you better lookbefore you buy

Best beer selection around! They even carry a non-alcoholic beer! A fair selection of organic products as well. I wish they would accept plastic bags for recycling.

Great little grocer in Inwood, good selection fresh meats and quality produce. Doesn't hurt that the prices are good.

I went here a month ago the employees are so nice the beer selection is so nice I got a coupon spent about 50 prices are amazing I got a family size Oreos for $1.99

Mixed experiences with some not great produce or fresh meat. They have an extensive beer selection which my friends like.

There was a spate of issues where they were not accepting cards for a while. It seems to be resolved now.

Go for the drink selection but buy your fresh food carefully.

When you're living on the Isham side of Broadway, Food Universe is your best shot for groceries! Solid offerings for a small place - reliable for baking goods, snacks and daily essentials.

Mixed bag. Staff is really nice. Some produce is great, some is going bad. Decent variety of products, especially considering the neighborhood. Overpriced for the neighborhood, for sure, but it is close to me and has enough going for it that I shop there.

Used to be associated supermarket here, they've modified the interior, but it's still just an awful, typical ghetto store, where the prices are not marked, they cheat you on the prices, so be careful, the produce is not always fresh, it doesn't smell anymore, like most do in this area, but it's way overpriced for what it is. I only shop there when costco supply runs out. Only get milk, some tomatoes and maybe juice. Always check the price when you can!

One of the worst grocery stores I've ever been too. Produce is frequently moldy. I even got ICE CREAM from them that had gone bad (? !). The only thing going for them is (1) Not crowded, and (2) Excellent beer selection in the back. (Although even the beer room is gross, as the refrigeration unit is overworked and floods the room CONSTANTLY.seriously, there is always standing water in the beer room.)

They're making steady improvements, but much work remains to be done. Great beer selection, though you often have to contend with leaking or flooding to get to the beer. Produce quality is mixed - often great herbs, but fruit is sometimes moldy. The lighting got replaced at some point but could still be improved (maybe a warmer color) ; it would go a long way toward making grocery shopping a more pleasant experience.

Some good stuff, some horrible stuff, like the packaged grape tomatoes that were going fuzzy when I brought them home. Should have checked them before buying - I didn't bring them back - but geez - they were pretty far gone. Someone should check that stuff. Maybe their beer selection is great, but most everything else can be bought at either Fine Fare or C-Town or there's another small market close by that doesn't have produce but it's cleaner and probably more trustworthy.
