Forest Park Golf Course reviews
15 Forest Park is awesome
Golf course not so much.employees are unfriendly
Definitely not recommending parking your car there (balls are going through the fence and u maid get your windshield cracked -happened to me)
Don’t come here! Course is always in terrible condition and always overbooked - you will not get a round in under 6 hours. Better off going to just about any other golf course in New York City. They really need to take better care of this place next season.
My home course. Love the trees. It’s challenging with narrow fairways and slopes. Sadly it’s not very well maintained during the fall.
The course and the course are attached and narrow, so it looks a little dangerous. It is located in the city center and has good accessibility.
Love this place I love to walk at Forest Park with a group of people a short walk From Band shell to Forest Park Golf course 11 am and enjoy it the view and make a stop at his restaurant for launch
This is my “home” golf course. It has its issues but at a five minute drive is basically perfect. The fifth hole is unfairly hard and don’t expect incredible conditions everywhere, though you’ll find it in places.
Use common sense when booking, I don’t think I’d ever book a mid morning weekend round here. Results may vary though and I kinda avoid golf on weekends anyway.
Worst golf course I have ever played.very rude Employees. No grass on tee box. Very slow green. Holes are very close each other. Very dangerous.
Worst course ever
Each course spacing is too narrow
when preparing to hit at tee so many shouting for “balls! ” So scary and disturbing place
The starter at this course has a major problem. I booked a tee time for 4 people. 2 people from the group arrived before the other two and he sent the first two out by themselves 20 minutes before the scheduled tee time. The latter 2 arrived in time for the normally scheduled tee time but had to skip the first two holes because of this. The starter R=ruined the entire golf outing that day. There was no one point in sending them out early as there was no one waiting behind the two that was forced to start early.
The tee boxes are bald and is in serious need of repair. The greens are slow with lots of ball marks left by other players. The cart girl doesn't have any hard alcohol or food. There's no snack shop at the turn. The one positive is that the fairways are green.
Nice layout, awesome greens.
Cons; 3 ball washers on entire course. Bring water on weekdays especially if you walk. No portable water on the course. Friendly staff. Low handicappers will score here. Alotta guys playing the tips when should be playing the vaginals. 4 hour round.
Forest Park was my first time golfing in New York. I am coming from South Carolina and I golfed there a good bit.
I am a 10 handicap in SC and I shot an 87 on my first time for reference.
Forest Park is a very short course, with two drivable par 4's and a par 5 on 18 that will leave you 100 yards from the green with a halfway decent drive. The fairways are very narrow and the OVERHANGING TREES are definitely be a strategic obstacle! If you want to score low, you need keep the ball low. The grass is a little long, fairways could be cut a little shorter and the greens are a little fuzzy.
It sometimes feels like a shooting range rather than a golf course, one of my playing partners getting hit with a ball and my cart getting grazed around three times. People are all over the place, and the average skill level is extremely low. One random partner scored 90s, the other two scored 100s easily. You will hear fore being yelled all day.
Pace of play is very fast and the flow is actually pretty efficient despite how busy it is. I kinda like that, although I think it might be a little calmer with less people. I went on the weekend, so there's that.
Is it a challenge? For a par 70 course, yes! It tested my driving accuracy, irons, and chipping. A texas wedge out of the greenside rough here is impossible, you have to chip it at a very steep angle. The bunker on hole one has a fly problem, but the other bunkers are actually really fluffy. There's also a few elevated greens that give you a blind shot into the pin, pretty cool!
I can't wait to go back and work on my game here. I think Forest Park, despite it's admitted flaws, could be a great place to improve as a golfer or maybe just get introduced to this wonderful game.
Love Forest Park gold course. It is very challenging for a course so close to Manhattan. Very challenging with trees all around. I love walking it. Makes for a great work out. Everyone is super nice at the clubhouse
If you love 6+ hour rounds, play here. Otherwise, soft, relatively slow greens. Fairways are in good shape. There are no course rangers, and you'll see the beverage cart girl once. ️
The course offers 15 - 20 minutes to play a hole. Expect to play fast.
Greens and T boxes are close, expect incoming from players from the other direction.
Four!
