Frevo has established itself as a very serious contemporary-cuisine restaurant, solidly anchored in French techniques, showcasing the love for the jus, the sauces and the complex and rich flavors that come with it. The Octopus & Chorizo Combination, the Cap of Ribeye and the Black Truffle Ravioli that we tasted during our last visit were outstanding and a fair representation of the ever-evolving efforts of Chef Franco and his incredible Team to surprise customers every time you seat on that impeccable serviced counter.

The food was overall good, but I’m writing this review a couple of weeks after and none of it sticks out anymore. Overall, it was a good experience but similar to other New York restaurants.

Celebrating my birthday at Frevo was one of the finest dining opportunities I have had. Watching the very skilled and passionate chef with his team in harmony preparing amazing dishes, was in deed a treat! The Michelin star was for sure given to one of the best in NYC! Delicious and creative dishes, ingredients at the utmost freshness were beyond expected. Ah, the counter sitting is very elegant and the stools amazingly comfortable. The dinnerware and glassware were really unique, it shows they were handpicked carefully! The art gallery is of course a plus to the overall experience. You can't miss this hidden gem in NYC!

Visited before Frevo had Michelin star. Loved atmosphere but was not really impressed with food so didnt go back. If friend is visiting from away, would be cool place to take cuz idea of entering behind huge painting is fun. But felt price was not justifiable.

Simply the best food and wine dinner we had tonight so far. And this was the second time we come. Most tasteful food, amazing wine pairing thanks to Quentin, incredible service. As a French, this is the best place in NYC.

This restaurant's tasting menu features numerous courses, with some dishes offering creative flavors, making it ideal for those who enjoy exploring novel taste experiences. However, due to the abundance of courses, there's a sense of repetition in some flavors. Personally, I feel that reducing the number of courses, combining similar styles of dishes, or introducing dishes with completely different flavor profiles could enhance the overall experience. For instance, since many dishes on the current menu have generally mild flavors, consider incorporating one or two dishes with spicier or richer and more robust tastes to diversify the tasting menu and create contrasts between the dishes. Additionally, some dishes have longer intervals between them, contributing to a slower overall dining pace. Nevertheless, the restaurant aligns well with the positioning of a high-quality establishment and is certainly worth a try.

An exceptional culinary journey at this one-star Michelin restaurant in NYC! The overall experience was truly outstanding, radiating an exclusive ambiance. The service added a touch of sophistication, and the highlight was undoubtedly the exquisite cuisine curated by the talented Chef Franco. A culinary gem hiden in a art gallery.

Some good items on the tasting menu, but at least three missed by a lot and had way too many different ingredients. Trying to be complex, but the flavors and textures didn't go well together at all. For the price point, simple combinations with fresh ingredients are so much better.

It was an amazing culinary experience. Hospitality was genuine and friendly (even chef Franco spent time talking to everyone while still touching the kitchen), cuisine was beautifully presented, very tasty and prepared with the freshest ingredients, premium wine pairing was perfect and worth the splurge, kitchen was very clean, ambiance was great, fun evening filled with delicious food and superb hospitality!

In an elegant and intimate atmosphere, we enjoy creative dishes, each time delicious discoveries! The very attentive staff explains the composition of each dish. The pairings with the wines are harmonious, again great discoveries. I really appreciated the non-formal nature of the passionate staff who were eager to share the great pleasure of talking about this cuisine. This restaurant deserves two stars, we had a delicious birthday evening there!

My husband and I just celebrated our anniversary at Frevo and had a memorable experience. We sat at the chef’s counter, watched the staff prepare our dinner and enjoyed this amazing tasting menu. Everything was impeccable: from flavor to food presentation to dishes to wine glasses and silverware. And service was flawless. Servers were very attentive and made us feel at home having this exquisite meal. We’ll definitely be back!

Briefly, if you're looking for a place that's Instagram-worthy, this is a great spot. However, if you and your companions are serious foodies, I would suggest looking elsewhere. Compared to the price you pay, it won’t be worth it in case you are a food enthusiast.

I recently had a dinner at this restaurant that I felt was overpriced at $300, including the extra charges, tip, and tax. Although I've dined at several Michelin-starred fine dining establishments, this one was one of the priciest considering the overall quality of the menu items. Unfortunately, the taste of all the dishes was average, despite their beautiful presentation, artistic gallery, and great atmosphere.

It seemed like they used various high-quality ingredients, but they didn't quite hit the mark. For example, the steak was not as juicy or tender as I had hoped. I also chose the truffle ravioli, for which I additionally paid $55. I thought the white truffle and sauce were good, but the ravioli was not even better than any average ravioli I had in other Italian restaurants.

On the bright side, I did enjoy their petit four made with basil, which was quite interesting.

While the service and atmosphere were good, the waiting time for each course and taste wasn't worth the price. To be honest, I had a much better experience with the $150 lunch course at The Modern in NYC, which earned two Michelin stars and had amazing service.

Still, I admit that their art gallery-type entrance and the menu catalog with the paintings at the gallery were definitely awesome. However, to be honest, if my friends or family ask, I don’t want them to waste their money in NYC which has plenty of options to enjoy a special dinner.

A special occasion dinner for sure and would highly recommend. I would say the "art gallery" element is way overplayed. There's a handful of paintings scattered throughout but none that a lay person would be impressed by. You're here for the food.

Would not recommend! The initial impression of the restaurant is promising, with exceptional ambiance and art when you walk in. However, our experience was followed by unfriendly staff and unsatisfying aspects. The staff's unfriendly demeanor left much to be desired, and the portions of the dishes were disappointingly small and nothing special taste wise (except for the truffle pasta add-on which we paid extra for). On top of that, every glass with the wine pairing is so little. Tiny pours and the standalone glass of wine we also ordered was barely 2.5 oz.
Our visit was intended to celebrate a birthday, and we spoke to them twice about a shellfish allergy prior to making the reservation. Despite assurances that they would provide suitable replacements, all we received were vegetable substitutions. Honest communication about this beforehand and we would not have chosen to dine there.
Having frequented many tasting menus before, where shellfish allergies were accommodated with non-shellfish options, we were taken aback by the lack of consideration. After spending a considerable amount, we found ourselves so unsatisfied and hungry that we had to go eat dinner at another restaurant afterward.

Beware! There are much better Michelin-rated tasting options in the city. Agree with other reviewers that the stars are a testament to the modern failure of fine dining! This experience fell short of expectations, and we regret choosing this restaurant.

The duck was not cooked properly and it was chewy. The dessert wasn’t that impressive. Besides that this is a great restaurant with nice service and ambience.

My husband and I love visiting Michelin-starred restaurants and for his birthday this year, I wanted do something really special. After an exhaustive search, I finally found Frevo. A restaurant hidden behind an art gallery that seats 24 people while offering a truly unique Chef's table experience? Yes please! My husband was beyond impressed! Every detail, from the decor to the service and back down to the food was impeccable and so carefully thought out. If you plan to go, I strongly recommend doing the wine pairing. Each offering of wine paired perfectly with the course. We've already said that we can't wait to go back, I enjoyed myself beyond measure!
