Friend Of A Farmer Gramercy Park reviews
18 We went to this charming restaurant on Sunday for lunch; It doesn't take reservations but the line moves smoothly.
Perfect for a brunch or lunch, excellent choice of both savory and sweet.
Attentive and helpful staff.
What a beautiful and cozy restaurant. The food was so fresh and delicious. I had the pot pie and my friend had a burger which is now his favorite burger of all time. The ambiance at night is dimly lit and so romantic and the staff is so friendly. I will definitely be back for date night. Thank you FOAF!
Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon was perfectly made and the cheddar biscuit they use as the base bread was the ultimate cherry on top. Service was great too. Very quaint and homey breakfast spot.
Host was a little curt with us but had a long line to sit. Service was okay but food was good.
Wow. This place has been here for years but I feel like they are doing their best cooking today! We came for dinner (accidentally) on Sec 25 and had a most delicious meal! Everything was wonderful. The ambiance is adorable, service was great. Salmon cooked perfectly and delicious. Also the burrata appetizer, chicken and apples, champagne cocktails. All two big thumbs up. Come eat here. You won’t be sorry!
Excellent family time during the brunch on 12/25. We enjoyed ourselves, the dishes were very well cooked (with a special mention for the pumpkin pancakes), the staff is very pleasant and attentive, the decoration gives all its charm to the place and that's also what I like Made me choose this restaurant.
A legendary New York address for veterans! This place was very fashionable a little over 10 years ago. But in New York, it's very difficult to stay on top of the competition. This remains one of my favorite places for breakfast. It is delicious! I recommend the corn flour waffles and the buttermilk pancakes and especially the eggs benedict, a real delight. Unfortunately the decor is a bit dated and slightly dated. It might be time for a makeover.
The service was great. The atmosphere upstairs is wonderful and intimate with the fireplace. The fried oysters are delicious. Very nice selection of wines.
Such a wonderful, cozy atmosphere, and the service was amazing… Nazira was so friendly and helpful, which made this an extraordinary experience. The food was delicious. We had the apple stuffed chicken and a quinoa salad, followed by an apple pie type dish, which was amazing.
A beautiful little farmhouse gem tucked away off the busy streets of NYC. Picturesque and very cozy with a rustic feel (worn wooden columns, ceilings, floors). Very friendly and warm staff, excellent food. Local and fresh ingredients. A bit pricey, but I recommend sharing the Boomer Special, as portions are a good size!
I tell you, Thanksgiving dinner was good but classic America: quantity over quality
All in all, still a nice shop.
Brunch was the definition of mediocre, but packaged at a premium price point. Food was nothing special. Service was bad.
The poached eggs in the eggs benedict were so over there was no runny yolk. The breakfast potatoes were bland and mushy. The cornbread waffle was good, but not stellar, and definitely not worth $17. I appreciate the farm to table aspect, but it's not executed well.
Our server interpreted someone having an egg allergy as being vegan and she had to continually ask for every dairy component of her dish. He asked the table next to us to clarify their order at four different points.
This is such an interesting space. We had a group of 5, and I know they are trying to get the most out of their space but I think the table under the stairs is not a great space to be in. Would have rather been in the upstairs or in the glassed outdoor space. I got the Terry Allen chicken which I thought was ok, but this place redeemed itself on the cocktails. Some really interesting ones like the plum margarita which was extraordinarily flavorful and tasty. Would come back here just for the drinks.
I don’t know why I waited so long to try this restaurant. I loved everything about it from the decor to the food to the service. They start with cornbread with an apple chutney which was great. We started with butternut squash crostini, don’t see it on the online menu. It was delicious. I didn’t even know I was eating squash, the honey balanced the cheese and the squash sat on top. The short rib entree was tender flavorful and comforting. One of the best I have had. I don’t eat duck but the person who got it also thought it was one of the best he has had and he has had many subpar duck dinners. We so appreciated our server’s recommendations. I was leaning towards the chicken pot pie and he said it was delicious but will never leave the menu so if we planned to return we might want to try something that could rotate off the menu, great advice. Tried the special cocktail, was something with cherry juice and was a little too sweet for me but wine selection was nice. If you want an eclectic cozy meal with great food I recommend this restaurant.
Amazing spot! Very intimate farm to table restaurant with dim lighting (made it a little hard to read the menu).
Food was delicious. Must admit, i cannot remember the last time I had chicken pot pie. This one was piping hot and tasted very fresh. It was also super filling.
The cookie skillet had the best vanilla bean ice cream and wasn't too heavy.
The vegetarian options are poor. I got the quinoa bowl and it was exceedingly salty and there was no option to add vegetarian protein to it (eg, egg, tofu, etc). The service was some of the slowest I’ve ever had in Manhattan (this was on a weekday evening). It was also very loud sitting upstairs, our group had to yell to hear each other over the din. I did like the look of the restaurant interior though.
I am leaving this one star review for the dinner service, specifically. I’ve only ever had good experiences at breakfast. Dinner was unfortunately another story. I went yesterday with a party of four for a birthday dinner. We made a reservation at 8pm. We were told to stand in the bar area to wait for our table and we were told it would be ready shortly. We stood waiting for almost 45 minutes. We were standing in our coats, overheating and hungry and thirsty. We were not offered food or water, complementary or otherwise. After 30 minutes of waiting, we were told our table was occupied by a party who had already paid their bill and therefore they could not be asked to leave. I frankly have no idea what that means, but we were seated finally around 8: 45 after the other party chose to leave and the table was cleaned. No part of our meal was comp’ed as apology for the incredibly long wait (despite our reservation or the fact we specified it was for a special occasion). Neither the food nor beverages were good enough to make up for the disrespect or our discomfort. Also three shrimp for 20 dollars is unbelievably bad value for money.
Cuisine prepared in a lovely setting, however the quantity of dishes was limited given the price.
The atmosphere is pleasant and the service impeccable.
Good place for a dinner with friends but a little expensive.
