This was the worst experience of a children’s class or show I’ve had. I’d been wanting to take my toddler to a show for a while, but found it hard to justify the $80 cost they wanted for an hours show. However, I came across a trial class on Sawyer for their St Patricks Day themed show, and booked it immediately. I got an email reply a few days later telling me the date I’d booked was full, and that they’d moved me to another date, which happened to be St Patricks Day, so I had no issue with this. The show was meant to start at 10.30am. I arrived at the Actors Temple around 10.20am to a locked door, wondering if I was in the correct place. Around ten minutes later, a woman opened the door, and I immediately saw a flight of stairs. There I am with a stroller, and the woman didn’t even offer to help me up, but I asked her to and she did. She then informed me the show was running a little late. I didn’t think much of it, and got me and my toddler sorted. There was another child and their caregiver waiting for the show also. Meanwhile, the cast started doing their soundcheck and run through. Honestly, I was getting excited by the music and couldn’t wait for it to get started, although I found it strange that they were doing this at the time the show was actually meant to start. They were soundchecking for around 30 minutes, and one of the cast members told us they were waiting for a school to arrive. Then a school bus turned up with a whole bunch of 6 year olds, then another bus shortly after, and another bus. The place was definitely over capacity when all these kids had arrived. God forbid if there was a fire! We were crammed like tinned sardines. So after waiting an hour for all these schoolchildren, the show started at 11.30am. At which point, my little one had run out of patience and was wanting a nap. After a few minutes after the show started, I walked out. Very, very disrepectful to keep people with children waiting for an hour, whether a trial or not. Very disappointing!
