I myself am a business owner with over 120 employees. The owners son who works behind the register is everything I pray that my kid won't turn into. Disgusting, arrogant, rude. Not only to me, but the way he spoke to a female worker in the place was absolutely horrifying. I spent big money in here, and most definitely will not be back.

Garnet changed management a few years ago and since then it has been going steadily downhill. I returned some bottles because they weren't drinkable, and handed them over to their driver as they asked me to, but somehow they disapeared and I never got credited. Another time the delivery guy broke 2 red wine bottles in my lobby and caused damage to our marble floors.

Terrible customer service. Asked for ID/credit card which i have no problem with. Asked me if i need a bag, i said yes and then i paid for it. Later, the guy says i said "no" to the bag and now i need to pay 5cents for it. I usually wouldnt mind but the guy was super rude.

Garnet Wines & Liquors was a big disappointment. They approved my first online order and took money, then left a message a couple of days later saying they canceled my order due to "out-of-stock". When I called to give my credit card info for refund, they were not helpful at all to order my replacement. The person who talked on the phone had no clue to satisfy customers. He was even rude. My impression from in-store experience was also a kind of cold, unfriendly atmosphere around people running this store. I will never use this store again. Instead, I highly recommend 67 Wine cross the Central Park. Their customer service was excellent.

When I tell you this is one of the best wine stores in the area-

It's deceptively huge inside, despite the smaller store front. There's always a bloke with a baseball bat ready to crack skulls if you try to run off with the merchandise. One of the managers-I'm so sorry I forget his name, he's a bald white man-is incredibly helpful. He has always made fabulous recommendations based off my tastes and previous things I tried. They even have a whole shelf of just Sancerres. Really baffled by some of the negative reviews, this place is wonderful.

I have been buying wines from Garnet Wines & Liquors for more years than I can count. (At least 30+ years.) It's a bit of a warehouse environment, but the prices have always been worth the effort. Today I went in looking to buy my usual $150-$200 worth of wines, but the staff was SO RUDE TO ME that I walked out without buying anything. I doubt I'll be going back here again. (Or if I do, it will only be in an emergency.)

Probably the best selection on the UES. Specifically wide variety and best prices on brandies and fortified wines. Competitive with Astor Wines and Spirits on price and selection in most categories. A wonderful addition to the UES.

Buyer beware! The staff at Garnet Wines and Liquors are rude, lazy and scammers. They will charge your credit card and not ship your order or try to ring up different prices when you're in a rush at the store. It's happened to me and several of my friends that used to shop there. We're all done with this wine shop! It's more than just a "simple mistake" or coincidence because the lanky Indian kid with glasses tried to pull a fast one on all of us. Don't trust this business.

Do not order online for delivery! Paid extra for evening delivery and came 3 days later in the middle of the afternoon - this is the email they sent me when I questioned it and asked for a refund of the extra paid. ([email protected])

Stay away from those thieves. I caught the Indian American kid in the act - charged me $43 for a $20 bottle major drama for money back once threat to report to my credit card the charge as THEFT which was what it was! Never going back there THIEVES!

Went in with some friends to buy some wine. Overall an unpleasant experience. Hard to find what you're looking for. Staff was rude.

Have shopped here for over 15 years. Polite staff but owner's teenage son is unbelievably racist. He bumped into my wife with his cart and then a little later told her to "Get a move on" as she was browsing for wine in the aisle. He told us that he did'nt have to be polite to us because we are ugly Indians! He screamed, "Just look at how ugly this woman is! I don't have to respect her. " The irony is that the owner, Mihir Patel, is Indian!

Worst front of the house customer service. New ownership (Mehir?) is awful. Go here to save a $, or if you have wine-searcher; but don't expect a good wine store with knowledge or delivery. I've given up after 12 years. Sad, as long-time employees are great.

Spent the ENTIRE afternoon (it is now almost 7pm) waiting for an order placed via app-and it's still not here. Staff is not organized, order tracking is abysmal. They have no idea if the order will be delivered or no. I wish I could give it ZERO stars. Waste of time and energy. Now I have to call my credit card company to do a charge back, still don't have the wine, and lost half of my Saturday. Great.
