GENTLE MONSTER New York SoHo, Wooster St

Amazing staff, the staff who helped me was a really nice female staff unfortunately I didn't get her name but she was incredibly respectful and welcoming.

I love the look of my Gentle Monster glasses but man did I just have a really unpleasant experience getting them adjusted. I purchased my glasses a few months ago and, since I mostly wear contact lenses, I just now decided to ask for help with the tightness pain I had been feeling with the legs and the nose pad. The young associate helping me was nice enough but they seemed to need help assisting me, so a manager (I assume) came out and asked that I try them on for him and then he laughed and commented on how crooked they were on my face. I didn't really understand what he meant because I had never noticed them to be crooked before, or if he was trying to suggest that this is the reason they felt tight. He then said that I must have bumped my head (?). It didn't really make sense and the tone came across rude. He then adjusted my glasses further and before they were returned to me, he said in a very snarky manner to the associate "the lenses REALLY need to be cleaned and wiped down too, " which felt like he was trying to insult me. He then immediately disappeared to the back following that comment. The associate cleaned them and handed them back to me, we exchanged an awkward glance, and I left. It was a really awkward experience as a customer and I don't think I will be returning, at least to the SoHo location.

Beautifully designed store with great selection of sunglasses and glasses. I had made an appointment and came on time, but was not helped by the staff member at the front nor guided where to go. She even had the audacity to complain about my friend and myself while we were right next to her. I guess customers aren't allowed to look at the product? ! Had I not already chosen what I wanted to buy, I would have just gone to another store.

Enjoyed my time here, staffs were really nice and helpful with picking a good pair of new glasses for me. Their interactions were really nice and sweet.

This review is only for the appointment system, not for the product. I tried to make an appointment online to avoid any wait time if I walk in. I got confirmation email for today's 2: 30PM but when I drove to NY, paid for parking and got there, they were closed and there was a notice in the front saying the store is closed Monday and Tuesday for maintenance. This is a joke. If you don't honor your own reservation system then please shut it down.

Very nice store and friendly staff. I was there for sunglasses and Daisuke helped me. He was very professional and patient when he explained different styles to me, and gave me helpful suggestions. Other ppl were friendly as well. Highly recommend!

It’s a beautiful store. I’m not sure why they hired such horrible staff. All they did was stand around and gave people dirty looks. Get your customer service in line with your standards. Absolute disappointment.

there are many styles not available online and also online styles that are not available in store.its a big spacious artistic store with many styles for sunglasses and opticals.the workers were very friendly and helpful, in terms of lens quality from previous reviews I'd just get them done at a trusted store.most big glasses store charge a lot for prescription lenses, they have a whole section in the back with more glasses.these pictures only show the front of the store.expect to pay anywhere from 250-500 for a pair of glasses.we already have a big collection of glasses from here, and the cases they provide are great.especially great on Asian fit and fitting larger heads/faces if you prefer bigger glasses.very happy we were able to visit this store and leave with a purchase

in terms of covid restrictions, there were no lines and we did not have to wait to get inside, there were probably 10-20 people walking around in the store

Stay away from Gentle Monster if you want to buy their optical frame and lens. I had 2 Gentle Monster sun glasses and recommended this brand to my boyfriend. He purchased an optical frame with prescription lens. He received the glasses in August, and after only two months, both of the lens already had very bad scratches. My boyfriend is a little OCD, so I know he takes care of his stuffs well. He has owned like 10 pairs of prescription glasses, and couple of them are 10 times cheaper than the price he paid at Gentle Monster, but none has this issue. He contacted customer service. They asked him to sent the glasses back. After the inspection, they asked him $240 bucks to replace the lens even though they have 1-year warranty policy. I feel really bad recommend this brand to him, expecting with the price he has to paid, the quality and customer service would be much better, but Gentle Monster ends up to be a huge disappointment. I give them two star for the cool design and the welcoming staffs at the store, but the quality is terrible.

It was a cool building with unique art installations. They tightened my own sunglasses because they were a bit loose and put them in the cleaner machine for free. Make an appointment before you go.

Louis' customer service was perfect. I have bought a couple of sunglasses from this particular store in the past, and everytime was a smooth process even during the pandemic. Staff were very profesional and helpful. Thank you again!

Was told only 3 people can be in the store at the same time even though we made an appointment, and there’s only 4 of us. There were clearly more than 4 salesperson working so I guess either they do not count as people or the customers are not counted as people. The store is big enough to fit all their ego and excessive staff but with no room for additional customers.

Not a great store, overhyped and rude customer service. The design of the store looks like it was put together by middle schoolers.

Serious issue with their policy during Covid. Every store is so encouraging and happy they have clients! After months of trying to get to their store upon arrival the guy asked do you have an appointment? No! Who makes appointments for large eye glass store? Well you can only try 4 glasses! Insanity! We left.

Great art in the store and good mix of extreme fashion sunglasses with more mainstream options. Staff was friendly and helpful and encouraged selfies that were perfect for Instagram.

Super artsy gallery-like vibe! Awesome sunglass selection. Great for asian fit sunnies (flat nose bridge).

I picked a pair of glasses I want, and they told me they will have a new pair ready for me at check out. However, after waiting in line for 15 mins, they gave me a different piece. They said the original one was sold out, so they hope I can’t tell the difference and buy the other one? Of course I can easily tell the difference, and it wasted me 20 mins.

What a beautiful design! Such a great space. I love the art work looks like a museum for contemporary art
