Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre reviews
16 Watched Come From Away in June. Really nice theater. It was my first Broadway experience and in case it’s helpful for anyone else, after you scan your tickets, you walk through two sets of doors and directly enter into the theater. Then ushers give you Playbill pamphlets, check your seat number, and direct you to your seats. They will also tell you where the restrooms are.
It depends on the show, but at least for this musical there didn’t seem to be any bad seats in the theater with obscured views.
For a lot of theaters, the restrooms are on the basement level and concessions and bars are on the ground level (sometimes on multiple).
I agree seats are small. They are narrow. But the show we saw was less than 2 hours and I only got mild butt pains. It's worth it. The slant is significant enough that I could see well and I'm short. I couldn't see if there actually was an orchestra pit as the musicians sat in the wings of the stage, but it made it cozier and had them as part of the cast and a more integrated show. Men's restroom was only on the bottom floor where the bar was, but women's were on 1 and 3 and were clean. Doors opened 30 min prior to show (when the tickets said to get there) and there was already a line, but security were efficient in checking everyone's bags and getting us through the metal detectors. When people say the ushers are aggressive, they're just efficient in directing you to the proper spot and getting people in and out quickly.
This theater is absolutely stunning. Came here to see Come From Away and I was blown away by how beautiful the theater was from the inside.
There are 1080 seats, and every single seat has a great view of the stage. Additionally, the theater has excellent acoustics making it very easy to hear.
There’s also plenty of space in the lobby to hang out before and after a performance. Staff are friendly and helpful if you need to find where you’re going.
It would be nice if they had a few more restrooms available. There are only a few which does not meet the demand of a crowd this big. I do realize that is probably never going to change since this has already been built.
Overall this is an excellent theater and very easy to access from the Times Square, Subway Station.
We saw Come From Away here in June - last few months before the show leaves Broadway - no doubt it will tour. Great theatre, we took front row in stalls and despite warnings of limited view the seats were great, we could see all the stage and the actors when at the front were nearly on top of us.
We saw Come From Away and it was simply fantastic! Such a heartwarming story in what was the absolute worst of times for so many people worldwide.
Since this is a review about the theatre, I wanted to give a shoutout to one of the ushers named 'S. Golden'. It was nice seeing someone who clearly loved her job as she was very enthusiastic, upbeat and personable. She made it clear she wanted to ensure everyone was comfortable and well set to watch the show. Kudos to you S. Golden, I hope you or one of your managers sees this.
Thus theatre is beautiful. The show COME FROM AWAY will make you cry and laugh. Go see the show they are closing October 2,2022
Unfortunately, it seems as if nearly everyone working at this theatre has burned out. It felt like we were simply another herd of cattle being begrudgingly corralled into the next show. Aside from that, the theatre is nice and there really doesn't seem to be a bad seat in the house. Easy in and out.
The theatre is quite nice, although there is not a lot of leg room in the orchestra. If you are reading this in regards to Come From Away, it is a MUST SEE! The musical addresses so many different aspects and impacts of the subject while still being a feel-good musical. I was absolutely blown away and everyone in the production was just outstanding.
Awesome little theatre with clean bathrooms. Everyone working there was friendly and helpful. Come From Away was also amazing!
I saw Come From Away here. The theater is old but beautiful, and the bathrooms are pretty accessible for an old and small theater. It's not far from the subway and located near most of the other big Broadway shows.
Beautiful theater with good views all around. Climate was well maintained at a comfortable level, but just like most of the theaters on Broadway, the seats are just so uncomfortable as I try to make my shoulders as narrow as I can. I honestly don't know how bigger people fit into these seats.
Went to this beautiful theatre to see Come From Away, please do not be put off by the subject matter the production is amazing of, of course, very emotional and uplifting. The cast are brilliant and staff very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend this show.
All the seats here have an excellent view, even the cheap ones in the back. Staff took the masking requirement seriously, which is nice to see. Come From Away was a great show to see here.
One of the best musicals I have seen. It shows the strength of humanity on one of its darkest days. Life goes on in a way that proves that humans are resilient when they support each other. Good show.
The staff was very polite and helpful it was very clear I had a magnificent time the play was "amazing" it has it ups & downs funny all around very it's a very personal and historical story from so many points of views it was interesting to see the cast was amazing they performance was amazing they delivered there lines with no mistakes everything was well done it's an amazing story I'd definitely see it again I loved it!
Come From Away is an astounding performance based on a true story, of a minimally advertised collateral issue of Sept. 11. The facility is excellent.
