Gibney 280 Broadway reviews
10Beautiful studios with great floors, natural light, and mirrors that are true! The staff is super kind, friendly, and helpful all around: from security to reception to custodial services!
The studio and teachers are amazing. The class bio's/descriptions typically don't have class levels in them, which can be frustrating when trying to decide on classes for the week.
Always clean studios to work in. The staff are professional and this seems to be the place to go nowadays.
The guy at the front desk was really nice and the clerk lady was also helpful getting me to the right studio:)
Nice Training Center. All trainers are friendly, if you want to become a perfect dancer just join them
The space here is really lovely. They have studios for basically every need and have affordable prices if you need rehearsal space! This is my new favorite studio!
Gibney is a great space for artists, their studios are beautiful recently renovated.
They have different sizes and different kind of floors at different rates.
Very clean and great safety policies.
Beautiful studios!
New, clean, safe.
Gibney does a lot for the dance community always providing opportunities for emergent choreographers and companies.
I am very grateful to have been introduced to the Simonson technique at Gibney. After years off from regularly taking class, I rediscovered my love for modern dance thanks to learning from Apollonia Holzer. Her weekly class became a treasured ritual. I'm inspired to explore more of this movement method.
I don't want to write a negative feedback but I have to because this is an important issue. I've been dancing as a hobby at various studios for a long time and had an unfortunate experience at Gibney. The teacher made a personally uncomfortable comment in the beginning of the class where she said "Are you two sisters? " pointing at me and other student of same race. I think she was trying to be friendly but it wasn't right. After we said "no" she tried to make her comment valid by saying "no? Maybe similar shape or size. "
Commenting on someone's appearance is unacceptable. We live in 21st century New York. The whole class I couldn't concentrate on dancing because I was aware of my appearance and started to question why I look similar to the other person. My sense of self-worth and individuality was diminished by her single comment. This was not an uplifting experience which dance should provide but rather a downer. I request a sincere apology from them and the teacher should learn from this.
