Glen Island Park reviews
10 Great location reception was wonderful staff was awesome! Band Mike Kane really got the party jumping! Cocktail stations incredible, bar great, Venetian deserts outstanding! Dinner underperformed compared to the rest of the venue!
The staff were exceptional along with the facility and the view from the Glenn Island Harbor Club was incredible!
Exploring New Rochelle on Sunday. Discovered that Glen Island was once the home to the country's first theme park noted as America's pleasaure ground. It was called Starin's Glen Island after its owner John Starin, US Congressman and shipping magnate.
FROM WIKI:
The island's main attraction was a re-created German castle modeled after an ancient Rhine fortress. The arched entrance was broad enough to admit a coach into the courtyard leading to the great hall. In the great hall was the "Little Germany" (Klein Deutschland) beer garden, where food and beer were served by waiters in Tyrolean dress. [14]
In the 30s Glen Island Casino was home to some of the best bands of the Big Band Era.
Nice and clean. Too bad there is no place in the winter to get a warm soup. The castle is all locked up and broken. Why can't it be repaired and made into a family friendly place for reading books, making friends, playing Scrabble and doing arts & crafts projects?
Beautiful place, 105 acre scenic island with a host of activities, picnic areas, boat launching, pathways and a beautiful crescent-shaped beach with access to the Sound. Children's playground, Cannons, sculptures and castles with coursed rubble stone, arched openings and round towers so much to see or learn from this place.
Great staff. Great place. Just the ladies rooms could b better. Found broken glasses on the floor.
Had a wonderful time at my nieces wedding Can't wait to go back. The food, drinks n music was fabulous
I walk a loop in Glen Island Park almost every day & feel blessed for having such a gorgeous park so close to me.
Absolutely beautiful, especially in late afternoon into the evening. The sunset and the lights from various areas on the water can be spectacular.
Trippy and trance-y tunes and lights! Fun side-vibe to the weeding! A lot of fun to hop in the van with table 14!
This is a gorgeous place to sit and watch the world go by or to take a nice walk. If you enter during the off-season the parking is free. My work has a "retreat" at the Glen Island Harbour Club once a year, and it is spectacular.
