Took the chairlift up to Saddle, then met local tour guide Rich, who offered to take us to the top of Gore. We learned about the geology (yup, garnets abound in this area) & history. Rich was very knowledgeable, & we loved the scenery. But a bit hazy - remnants of smoke from the west! Imagined what this view would be on a clear day or in the winter! Did not know that Gore is a state run ski resort - lift tickets are significantly less expensive. Thank you, New York

For the price we paid for a scenic trip to the top of Gore Mountain. I'm not sure more entertainment for the buck, is possible.

From someone who’s been skiing here since they were four: bring your own lunch in a pack, but pack lightly.the lunch/food here is super expensive, and not that good.just bring a sandwich and water (you even have to pay for water, so keep that in mind). When you are coming up here, always keep a gallon of water in your car.if you need water, thaw it out and drink some.get a walkie talkie set on amazon for $20 and give one to a buddy, but make sure your on a channel you don’t have to have a HAM radio license for.also, if you see someone who crashed on skis, just ask them if they are alright, even if they are seem fine.they might have a broken rib or something.i had a friend who had a broken collar bone and no one stopped and asked if she was alright, and she layers there for an hour at night time.thanks for coming to my ted talk lol.

This mountain does not care about the customers. They will do the bare minimum to make snow and open trails when they should be open! The mountain has some great trails but they will never open them. I have been coming here for 20 years and can not stand for how this place is ran.

Love Gore, but it's over. Stick a fork in it. Bring your hiking boots so you can make it down the lower mt. Should have made last weekend the last.

Fantastic resort to ski in the northeast. Plenty of skiable terrain for all levels. Draws more of a local crowd so trails don't get jammed up. Amazing views! Strongly recommend, particularly if you are looking for a place to ski within a 4 hour drive from NYC/NY metro area.

Would not let me buy a lift ticket. Tried to give them business but they would not allow it. Customer support was no help

I wanted to say thank you to all the staff at Gore for making the 2020/21 season an enjoyable experience during the pandemic.
We have been coming to ski here for many years and we were very impressed with how organized the mountain was during this difficult time. The lift lines were spaced out and the staff made sure we kept our distance while waiting.
Special shout out to the attendant at Straight Brook Lodge for constantly wiping the tables and chairs. It made us comfortable to know that we had a clean table at our favorite lunch spot.
And, special shout out to ski instructor Jerry Taft who gave us an excellent lesson that made a big difference in our skiing. Thanks to everyone at Gore, and we hope to be back next season!

Loved this mountain, first time here. Spent 2 days here and 2 days at Whiteface, this was a much more enjoyable experience. The variety of trails and different areas of the mountains kept us entertained and the conditions were great. The only issue I have is that the parking was going into the overflow lot, which is about a 15 minute walk in ski boots, carrying your equipment and there was no shuttle like Whiteface had. I'm not sure why it was so busy, we were there midweek on a non holiday week but it was fairly busy. Overall, I would definitely return.

The mountain is great overall and probably the best in NY and well worth our 2.5 hour ride there. The only problem we had on Wednesday was at the gondola, when getting into line a couple people ahead of us said something about cutting. Not sure if they were talking about us or others but an older women who seemed to be working as line police heard them and jumped all over us as if we cut someone with a knife. She was yelling at us and trying to shame us for something we didn't do. We ended up just walking away to avoid confrontation and left soon after. Not sure what her real job is but I don't think it's supposed to be ruining peoples great time. Especially after we offered or let dozens of groups of people go ahead of us at every lift line prior to this one.

Beautiful slopes with lots of trails for every type of skier and snowboarder. They have a lodge up on the mountain which is so convenient. They do close at 4 so come early because the lifts start closing at 345. Don't forget to get a hot Belgian waffle at the main lodge.

I love Skiing at Gore. This week my brother and I headed there to ski. I had 2 tickets, that I had purchased on a Black Friday special in 2019, and was unable to use last year, because of COVID 19. I contacted Gore, and they told me to mail them back, and they would replace them to be used in the 2020-2021 season. When I got to the window to use them however, I was informed that the tickets that they had sent back, were not valid from 12/19/20 to 3/14/21. Gore had sent back tickets that were not valid during the main ski season (while I had paid for tickets that could be used during the main season)! No amount of explaining helped. I paid the $105 price, because I did not want to, at that point, go home. If I had realized, I would have purchased tickets online before hand and saved myself some money. It just felt kind of like an underhanded way to do business. Did anyone else have a problem like this? Just wondering if I am the only one in this situation?

Great mountain! NY State runs it pretty well. Gondola is a godsend on cold or stormy days. Different lift areas are somewhat isolated from each other so lines are usually small but it’s tedious to get between areas.

We came here towards the end of the season and sadly didn’t have a great experience. I know this is the luck of the draw with an outdoor seasonal sport that depends on conditions but the way it was handled wasn’t great. We pre bought tickets for the date we were available and in town. It happened to rain and be a little windy the morning we went and apparently the top of the mountain iced over, during the night. The gondola and most of the park were therefore closed. 2 lifts were running and only about 6-8 trails were available to use. The conditions of the mountain were not updated to reflect this and the fliers at the ticket kiosks were not updated to reflect this either: (We drove 1.5 hours each way to get there. It would have been nice to have known this before we arrived.

Tickets were purchased in advance online. Touch less kiosks dispensed your pass and all lift entrances were gated. Staff were all wearing masks and enforced guests to do the same. The lodges we saw were older but had everything you needed. Vented tents were available in the parking lot to provide extra space for getting ready or eating.

I wouldn’t say this would prevent me from coming back again. I have heard great things about this mountain. However I hope the staff does a better job communicating what is going on to the public.

Second best mountain in NY after Whiteface. Only downfall is that the main chairlift doesn’t have wind shields (the wind can get pretty bad). Good variety of difficult trails as well

This is an awesome mountain and we always have a great time skiing! Unfortunately, I had to take off one star because there is a woman who works in customer service there (she’s answered when we’ve called several times) who is very rude, cuts you off when you speak, and answers all questions with a serious attitude. It’s a shame that so many great experiences at Gore are dampered by one employee with a bad attitude. Definitely visit this mountain but cross your fingers that you don’t end up having to speak to her.

As a side note, in our experience, all other employees there have been very kind, helpful, and easy going!

My family loves Gore! An amazing variety of trails and helpful and friendly staff. We spend our winters at Gore Mt and love every run.
