Cruises on the Hudson, ready to admire the work of God: autumn nature, mixed with the work of man. Skyscrapers, suitable homes in the renowned N. Y.

Part of the experience of going to an island. It is clean and fits lots and lots of people on the weekends.

Awesome quick ferry ride to/from Governers island. Highly recommend going on a weekend morning. Less crowded, and most things open. The toilet in men’s restroom on the ferry is always out of order. I have no clue why! Needs to be fixed!

I took the 8 AM ferry ride on a sunny Saturday morning to beat the crowds, and it was a smart move. Only three cars and around a dozen passengers, including myself, were on board. However, things had changed drastically when I returned a few hours (around 11 AM) later, with a long queue waiting for the ferry. The reason for the influx of people was the fact that the ferry is free of charge until noon on weekends!

The ride from Downtown Manhattan was surprisingly short, even though I had expected it to be brief. The upper deck provided decent views of the city, although not as impressive as those from the Staten Island Ferry. You are not far enough to appreciate the skyline of Downtown Manhattan. The seats weren't the most comfortable, but for a five-minute ride, it hardly mattered.

Finding the entrance to the terminal wasn't the easiest task, as it's not prominently advertised. However, once I located it, I enjoyed waiting in the beautiful lobby for my departure. Visited on Saturday, September 2023.

Short ferry ride (5 minutes) takes you over to Governor's Island. Ferry runs every half hour and is free for seniors. We went on a weekday and didn't need reservations. Weekends reservations are suggested. Ferry and ferry station had bathrooms.

Live Governer's Island - lots of interesting history there. There are also many activities like bike riding rentals of all types. There is a day spa, art museum and possible classes. One can see many other islands from Governer's like Elis Island. It's both calming and relaxing to watch all types of boats and ferries go by on the dancing waters that lap against the shore.

There is a Taco restaurant to visit and eat. It may be lovely. We did not go there. Instead, our family went to Gitano Island restaurant. Eat before you go there. Be prepared for small plates that are costly. The cost and the prices don't match up, and the selections are small.

However, love the island overall.

The terminal layout has changed from having a ticket counter to kiosks. They should have additional personnel in the summer time when there are more visitors with questions. The ferry was on schedule. Tickets weren't checked.

A five minutes ride from the Staten Island Ferry terminal. The ride is free, the boat leaves every half an hour. A great place fir a quick getaway from the city. You can book a place for glamping or just have a morning hike and spend the rest of the day at the spa.
