Gramercy Tavern reviews
17 Had a tasting course for two. Our server Mike was the most arrogant waiter I’ve seen in 20 years living and dining in the city. He was upset that I was shooting a video of my food “while he was talking”. None of his body part was shown in my less than 30 seconds-long-video, but he made it loud and clear that he didn’t want his VOICE to appear in my video which I was filming for my memories with my friend visiting from out of town.
Of course the service for rest of the night was very pretentious and rushed.
To top it all off, when we asked for the check he brought the check and split the bill on his mobile POS. My friend was treating me for dinner and NOBODY asked him to split the bill.
My friend selected the 20% tip as he stood there watching her, then when she inserted the card again for the second half, HE QUICKLY PRESSED 20% HIMSELF this time. He literally tipped HIMSELF and thanked her.
I’m seeing waiters using mobile POS at the table more and more these days, but I’ve never seen this kind of manner and NO ONE ever charged a split bill without a request in any restaurants EVER!
Guess it was his tactics to make the total number look smaller to get more tip? Whatever it was, petty and unheard of. Definitely not what I expected at a place like Gramercy Tavern. Usually I’d post pictures/videos of food on Instagram but this time I didn’t because I only promote positive experiences. Too bad because the food was pretty good.
Bartenders named Alex and Ivan were two of the most pleasant people i have ever encountered. The atmosphere was incredible.
Such a pleasant experience.
Burger was our favorite it’s just sooooo juicy! The dessert was a very close second. It was a caramelized cheesecake with mandarin sorbet and it was delicious. I didn’t get the cocktails but they were all delicious. We sat outside and it was such a beautiful night in a lovely neighborhood. Great date night place
Had to wait 2 hours until the dinner is served on our table, but the overall food and service was great, otherwise.
This tavern is the perfect spot to enjoy a drink with friends or to enjoy a delicious meal at the table.
Staff is very kind, polite, professional.
The kitchen worked to meet my need of lactose free meals, and somehow prepared a salad that was simply, the best salad ever.
Pasta was al dente, very tasty.
Absolutely recommended.
Enjoyed a tasting menu this past Saturday. We were very much looking forward to it after reading reviews and a friend from NY recommended it. We were fortunate to get a reservation when it opened up for our weekend visit to NY. We enjoyed every moment of the experience. The food was delicious of course and the service was impeccable. The staff was very attentive and made some great recommendations. Mike was our main server but we had several other who attended to us. We really enjoy our time there and would definitely go back when we are in the city. Thank you Gramercy Tavern for a lovely evening. We needed it.
I’ve been here before and it was amazing. Great food and even better service. This time -minus 1 star for the service. Skipped over me when Ordering drinks. We were a table of 6 and he did 3 people, skipped over me and went to the person next to me. Not freaking out about it but it was really weird. Food was still amazing!
Incredible dining experience across the board. Food, wine, ambiance, service, attention to detail, quality, atmosphere…every box checked!
Everything I had dreamed of. I felt totally justified in having set a notify on Resy every single weekend since moving to New York. The service was impeccable and all the food at our table was so delicious. Literally flawless experience. Absolutely lives up to the hype!
Fantastic food and service. The dishes were balanced and the service was communicative and every person was helpful
Everything was just right. Service was top notch food excellent a d the atmosphere is inviting
The pairing that came with the tasting menu were rather expensive, coming in at 4.7x retail for the wine. Most places in San Francisco, Paris, and Los Angelos average at 3.3x for a pairing. Value of the wine was $21 and cost of the pairing without tip was $99.
They poured 4 whites, 1 red, and 1 champagne. The wines matched the food well. The vintages ranged from 2013 to 2017. It would have been nicer to have one or two things with a bit more age to them (see itemized details in the uploaded image)
Cocktails were great.
Flowers and decorations are always gorgeous.
Service was great.
I'd come back again but probably get a bottle or stick to the cocktails.
Visited in February 2019.
My son LOVED the burger. The chicken was very good. The shrimp brioche appetizer was also very tasty. And the beignets for dessert were unbelievable.
It's an absolutely ultimate experience with each dish so perfectly handcrafted and served with absolute finesse from the angel biscuit in the start to the dessert, complete perfection
Wanted to try this place for a little over a year but Covid happened. I had the chicken wings, hamburger and wine. The food and customer service was great. Met the owner of the business and he was super nice. I suggest this Gramercy Tavern. Also, the music is a vibe!
Top rated restaurant. I came from out of town and could only get take out. But it lived up to its reputation! Hope to be back after the pandemic.
Came for New Years dinner with my wife and had an excellent meal. Service was fantastic and the we will definitely return
