I enjoyed the oysters rockefeller but thought the oyster stew thin and tasteless. It is a beautiful restaurant in Grand Central Station which is also beautiful. Take a tour of the station before or after lunch at the Oyster Bar.

Ordered the much hyped “pan roast” and all I can say is that it’s the worst thing both my partner and I have eaten during our New York holiday. This place is a tourist trap for sure.

Overated. Oyster’s mediocre even though i had a selection. Lobster decent but average. Won’t go back.

Grand Central Oyster Bar is a legend. I have not visited for years and my recent visit proves that the food is still a good, solid place for fresh seafood. But the vibe is lacking - mostly tourists.

The dining area while grandiose, it definitely shows its age. Could use a face lift. Service was good but a bit overbearing.

I hope to see Grand Central Oyster Bar return to its glorious day soon.

PS. Come here cuz the location was convenient to meet up - I live downtown, my friend up down. This is in the middle.

Terrible service, food was delicious when cooked properly, snapper came out great, artic char was raw, by this point the waiter hadn't been to our table for over 30 minutes even after asking another to have him come over, sent the plate back and asked to remove it from our bill because we didnt want it back, manager came over after being told we wanted to speak to him which we hadn't even asked for, didn't appear to care that our service and meal were well below par for such an iconic restaurant.

Only complaint was that our waiter's shift ended, and his replacement forgot about taking our order. After waving down waiters the food was great.

I have "always" loved the atmosphere of the "Grand Central Oyster Bar" This restaurant is more than a restaurant. To me, it's like a kind of "Historical Sanctuary" where you can get both lost in time, and in GREAT food and drinks, GREAT atmosphere, GREAT people of GREAT world-wide diversity and a GREAT amount of history. This restaurant to my knowledge has been embedded inside the GREAT enclave of NYC's "GRAND CENTRAL STATION" since the beginning of 1913 and "anyone" who remembers the history of the United States of America and specifically remembers the year 1913 LITERALLY knows that this year was the beginning of some of the MOST important events that both took place and shaped the way our country has and was able to move forward in a most detrimental way. Not to get into such a history lesson or reminder "of" however, as we celebrated 50 years since the "Emancipation Proclamation" America also saw the first ever Department of U. S Commerce, the Department of Labor, our U. S Postal service first began delivering "parcel" 1913 was the beginning of two of the longest recessions in history GREAT (not so GREAT) Depression those are to name a few yet for New York and New Yorkers with New York City being the financial Capital of the world we were blessed with the very "GRAND" opening of the largest railway station in the entire world wide and just shortly after the Beautiful and Historical "GRAND CENTRAL OYSTER BAR " was opened. I love and will forever love this place because it has been for me a place to come for amazing dining both the food and experience, it has been a gathering space for my local family and friends as well as the "meeting-hub" for family and friends from all over the world and this country. I spent almost 5 years working right on top of this restaurant. My former office building sits right atop of this Station and the GRAN CENTRAL OYSTER BAR which sits within "it" 317 Madison Avenue, NY, NY was my home away from home for all that time and even to date in 2023 this circumference serves as a meet up spot, as well as the epicenter of a place I pass through frequently. I LOVE NY and I LOVE the GRAND CENTRAL OYSTER BAR! #SALUTE

What a horrible experience. We ordered raw oysters and Rockefeller oysters, which were fine, but did have some shells in them. We didn’t see our server again after ordering. Our entrees were ridiculously bland and dry (chicken and salmon). We are not sure they even used salt. Hollandaise was served with the salmon and tasted like rancid butter. The rice was plain and the veggies on both dish were soggy. We were so unsatisfied and had spent $150 on the meal. We had to ask repeatedly for the receipt from random staff. Please do not come here, it is a complete waste of a meal and your money.

We had a date night here. Our server for the evening was Marco. He was very polite and extremely helpful! Service and food were top notch!

Made a reservation. We got there and it wasn't busy. Had fish n chips. Good meal. I think the decor needs to be updated.

I used to make a pilgrimage here on my annual layovers through the city, and have wanted to get back here since moving here a couple years ago. Sadly they were closed during the pandemic and now only open during weekdays, making it difficult. Happily I was finally able get over here last week though. The oysters are good and they have a nice variety though prices have gone up a lot since my last visit. The clam chowder is also a must. It was nice for the nostalgia though and the architecture is iconic. A good place to bring any out of town guests that are oyster lovers.

My Dad Norman, would take me there as a child. I worked for a pharmaceutical company as a rep, that was close by. Now that I've retired and there is a new LIRR station at Grand Central, I go all the time. That's my sartorial thing to do for the week. The manager Dave, is phenomenal!
