I had the privilege of having Matt as my guitar teacher for 4 years - he is world-class! Matt does an excellent job of making complex music theory accessible and fun. He takes an outside-in approach, where he'll meet you exactly where you are. Matt is overwhelmingly patient in working with his students, and deeply cares about their growth.

Simply put, my lifelong love of creating and listening to music is because of Matt. You'll find no better teacher out there, and I could not recommend him enough!

I took lessons from Matt for 3 years as an adult with a high level music background through singing, but zero instrument experience. I wanted to learn piano so I would become a better musician. Matt was able to take my unique background and really tailor the experience for what I needed. I learned techniques using both traditional sheet music and fake books that helped me play piano better and more intuitively. He was also incredibly supportive of my own music and listened to and gave feedback about my original songs. I highly recommend him to anyone looking to learn or get better at piano!

Matt is a wonderful teacher. Our daughter has taken lessons with Matt for many years - mostly piano, but some guitar and voice. He is relaxed and fun, can creatively meet the kid where they are at. At the same time he obviously is a great musician with a deep well of technical and theoretical training. The fact that our daughter is still taking piano lessons as a teenager, without too much complaint, is a testament to Matt's skill.

I worked with Matt as a student for 7-8 years. He was an awesome teacher and I learned so much about how music works. He plays and is able to teach a variety of instruments which was great for me to be able to explore. Highly recommend working with him, kids or adults!

Matt is a transformative music teacher! He has been a guitar mentor to my two sons from their elementary years to young adulthood. From the very first lesson, years ago, they were playing songs responsive to their musical tastes, while also learning fundamentals of theory, sight-reading, rhythm, etc. Each lesson is inspiring because it is built from the student’s musical interests, complemented by Matt’s expertise as a working musician and composer. As a teacher, Matt is experienced with all ages and levels; he is creative, dedicated, thorough and—so important for the student—his teaching style is always clear. The best!

Matt is a true legend in our family. He taught both our children piano, guitar and drums. He is so patient and his approach is to 100% work with where the students are and meets them there every lesson. My kids were always interested and excited for their lessons. My daughter who Matt started teaching at 3 years old is now 14 and can play absolutely any song she hears on piano completely by ear. Matt is a fantastic teacher. After only a few lessons, we were playing songs, a few famous riffs, and exploring a lot of music theory. Within a year, I was comfortable playing in front of people (I’d never played guitar before!). Shortly after that, we were writing a originals, eventually we were even messing around with garage band so I could record myself. He’s patient and fun and has great taste in music. Take a few lessons and tell me I’m wrong!

Matt's ability to tune in to my son's personality, aptitude and aspirations was superb, and he gradually took my son from near-beginner into admission to LaGuardia on both guitar and bass.

Matt has been teaching piano to our almost-8 year old for over a year. He is patient, takes the lead from the student's interest and makes classes fun and engaging. He uses a book but also adds on songs that our kid is inspired to learn. Our kid has learnt a lot in a short time, always looks forward to the classes and above all, Matt has sown the seeds for a deep love of music in her.

I took piano lessons with Matt for a few years in my mid 20s. I had dabbled in piano as a kid but wanted to pick it up as an adult. I was a little nervous to do it but Matt was such a great teacher and it was such a highlight of my week. I went from being a VERY beginner piano player to being able to play Bohemian Rhapsody by heart! He really tailors your lessons to your interests. For me, I like to sing so we chose songs that I could learn to play on piano and then also practiced singing while playing piano. He also taught me music theory. Overall, if you're looking for a piano or guitar teacher, look no further! Matt is the best out there.

Matt is a fun and patient teacher. My kids love taking music classes with him. They are two very different kids and Matt has managed to inspire them both.

I honestly can not recommend Matt enough. He is hands down the best music teacher either of my kids ever had and always met them on their level. His love for music and teaching is very clear after you attend one of the showcases where the kids perform (assuming they want to). 10 out of 10!

Matt has been our music teacher for years. He started off teaching my husband guitar and then my two daughters worked on both guitar and piano with Matt. The girls loved learning from Matt who is kind and fun to work with. He is very patient and makes learning music fun. I can't recommend Matt enough, and anyone taking music with him is lucky indeed.
