I went on vacation to New York with my family. First of all I want to say that the food was super tasty and also very large portions for reasonable prices.
The service, on the other hand, was super unfriendly and rude.
While ordering (the waiter obviously had poor English and was annoyed by it), the waiter rolled his eyes and walked away without a word. The food was thrown onto our table in an unfriendly manner and collecting the money was terrible. We knew that in New York you usually tip 15%. However, we only wanted to give this place a gracious $4 because of the poor service. The waitress had a very rude discussion with us and asked for more tips. I often told him that the service was unfriendly. In the end we had to give him a $7 tip or we wouldn't have been able to leave the place.

I've you are overwhelmed in Chinatown and don't know where to go - choose this place. Just walk in, check the large menu and order some nice food. Vegetarian options available - try the dumplings! The prices are reasonable and the recommendations written on banknotes from all over the world speak for themselves.

Pretty sure there was a rat in the back, I heard someone hitting a stick and then it stopped squeaking.

The taste is good and the price is beautiful. But one person's service was a disaster. As follows: Two people ordered three large portions of staple food and told us that it was not enough. When we paid in cash, we gave a sufficient tip and were still not satisfied. When you should get back 10 yuan, you only want to find me 5 yuan. In the end, the change given to me was all one yuan.

Great for quick delicious meals. Had a nice beef tendon noodle soup and a wonton noodle soup. The atmosphere is not upscale but it's down to earth home cooking and the food comes extremely quickly after ordering. Not very crowded on a weekend at dinner time.

Staff inattentive.
Bring a local or at least Chinese speaking foodie.
One of the few operating late night -11 pm closing!

Felt like back in HK, authentic HK food, chicken feet, wonton soup, siu mai … simply delicious for a very reasonable price

Beef stew wonton noodle soup. Very tender beef, nice size wontons and noodles were very fresh.

Terrible service. I called in to place an order for take out. I hesitated for a moment and they hung up on me. Honestly, their food is just mediocre. No next time. Definitely not recommending people to go there.

The place is small, don’t spect a fancy place and you might have to wait for a table but the food is really good and totally worth it! The duck is amazing!

I'm only reviewing HK Wonton Garden for their wontons, as that's in their name.

Full disclosure: I'm from Hong Kong, but grew up in Flushing and Chinatown. My mom makes wontons from scratch, and I have made them myself. There is a huge difference between fresh wonton and frozen ones.

You want to have that fresh shrimp taste, and the pork is good quality chopped just right, and no stringy bits.

H K Wonton Garden is good, but quality can sometimes be inconsistent. Like most restaurants, the wontons are precooked for quick service. Here, they taste fairly fresh. The chef behind the counter "cooks" the wontons in front of you, basically a reheat, but it's already cooked and possibly cooked before and came from the refrigerator. Not uncommon, but doesn't have that super fresh cooked shrimp taste and texture. Sometimes there is a batch already cooked and then warmed and waiting for customers, so the wonton skin has a bit more soaking and cooking and thus falls apart a bit more.

Often the quality is good, but once in a while you'll hit that over cooked batch and it won't be as satisfying. I think it depends on the turn-around and whether you get the end of the last batch or the start of a fresh batch of wontons that get cooked. But overall they have been pretty good most of the time.

I've been coming to this place for the better part of two decades, and they never disappoint. It's a no frills traditional Hong Kong and Shanghai style noodle and dumpling shop that's as traditional as they come. They serve delicious food that's very affordable, and the service is speedy and courteous.

Who ever is giving this place less than 5 stars I hope they go less often and leave more room for us who KNOW this is some of the BEST food in NYC. Beyonce's former chef agrees.an absolute treasure.
The BBQ Pork Bun here is some of the best food in the PLANET.

Restaurant caters to non-Chinese. When you go to Chinatown for food, go to a place filled with Chinese people. Food is okay. Wanton is filled with pork and small shrimp. Good wanton should have 100% shrimp filling. Congee is passable, but nothing to write home about.

Incredible Chinese food, especially after a long day of walking. My favorite dish was the Peking duck, it was incredibly juicy and tasty. Added with the rice absorbing all the leftover juice makes this simple dish a 10/10. Would eat here again.

Very simple Chinese restaurant with authentic dishes. The staff speaks English rather poorly. However, the food is very tasty. Rather simple and functional furnishings. If you like Chinese food, definitely worth a visit. Very good price/performance ratio.

I expected no frills Chinese restaurant. The curt staff do not bother me.

I ordered a chicken with big noodles and wonton. The broth was great. The wontons were great. The chicken, on the other hand, we’re dry and cold. Disgusting.

The menu at this place is huge. I can’t imagine everything being very good with such a large menu.

Cantonese dumplings and noodle soup. Not telling my mom they're the best wontons I've ever had.
